Hi,
My Husband is off to Magaluf in 2 weeks and was wondering whether he would get a better exchange rate if he changed his money in resort as opposed to changing over here. does anyone know what rate he would get in resort at the moment?
thanks chilli x
Hi Chilligrape, we just got back from Palma Nova yesterday, and the exchange rate averages 1.22 at the minute, some places we saw was as low as 1.17 and some 1.23 just watch out for additional commission charges. Even if they have a board outside that says 'no commission' you will notice in the small print, that the no commission applies only if you are exchanging a large amount. What I usually do is ask them how much I will get for £100 before I buy, as I've been caught out and ended up paying what seemed like a fortune in commission charges. I too am going back in 2 weeks, with my elderly mother this time.. and will probably buy my euros here, currently looking round the various websites now. Hope this helps. Alison
we usually take about 100euros with us and change up sterling when needed. We don't bother with bureau de change now, have always got a fair exchange in the hotel.
just look around a bit,ok your only talking about 1 euro in most shops...the bucket shop will say something like 125 or 130 say..by the time you give them £100.00 you only get 114 115 say.......really best if you pay me to come out and i will show you best shops... ha ha
another good place is upstairs at the side of WOODY'S BAR near the roundabout in Magaluf, you will find it about 200yards past BO'SELECTA the 1€ a pint bar
they both tend to give a good rate without charging commision.
