Hiya
I have been looking on some review sites for Es Cana & a few have said that quite a few places in Es Cana aren't very child friendly!!! infact one lady said that a waitress shouted at her 3yr old for playing at the table???
My grandaughter is 3yrs & wondered if anyone has any recommendations for family run bars etc that will welcome us all
cheers
M
As I've stated here in the past - the Holidaymakers are the main source of income to most of the Island and it wouldn't be in their own interests for Bar/Restaurant owners etc to get a reputation for unfriendlyness.
You probably will find that the posts that point out the "non friendly" bars are probably quite genuine gripes, but also bear in mind that the many of thousands of people who have a good time vary rarely need to make an issue of it as they are more than happy with what they found.
I'm not a familyman myself, but would have no hesitation at all of recomending Es Cana for a family holiday - Its the sort of resort that is almost entirely geared up for it.
ive never been to es cana and encountered unfreindlyness in any bar or restaurant, and ive been 8 times i think.all the bars are geared up for families, lets face it,its the parents who do the spending :yikes.i can recommend all the seafront bars, marvent, jaquaranda,es cana playa, most of the beach bars are open at night and have slides etc outside for the kids.the cocoon bar has a playpark at the side.the marvent is a bar/restaurant, but you can just have a drink and watch the world go by.im sure you will have a great time. mo.
Try Rios bar on the road out of Es Cana to Sta. Eularia it is just by the old bus garage and has the usual mix of kareoke, pool, and quizes nice staff as well.
Apart from my bar, which is genuinly (and uniquely) child unfriendly, I'd be absolutely stunned if you came across any bar in Ibiza that wasn't child friendly. If in doubt go to any bar that is obviuosly run by Spanish and they'll be falling over themselves to welcome you and your kids. Having said that, if your children aren't well behaved then they might not be so welcoming, but that would be the same in any country.
I'm not having a go at the bar but just wonder what it is that people will go back night after night for
Thanks everyone, put my mind at rest My kids were 10 & 12 when i first took them to Ibiza & never took a little one before, will try the bars out. Casper we will drop in whilst we're in Santa Eulalia - I know where that is had a couple a nice cocktails there and watched the world go by:cheers
hi maeve, i'm sure you and your family will have a lovely time in escana, it is very family orientated. I can't really suggest anywhere as we go as a couple, but once you get chatting to other holidaymakers at your hotel that have children with them, they will be able to put you on the right track. we do however go to rio's which is one place allmen suggested. we go in may and september and there are not many children there then. it's a really really friendly place, and tina and felix are great people, i think that is the reason it is so packed every night. have a great time, i'm sure you will !! - dotty
do i follow the road up from the bus station to get to Rio's? It sounds a great place for us with a karaoke mad husband & a bingo mad auntie & uncle Not too sure as i usually go to santa eulalia? and visit es cana for hippy market etc. thanks for the info.

I found the most child friendly bar in es cana!! It's definately Popeyes, Toni & Tina were the most perfect hosts for a family, they even bought my grandaughter a birthday cake - they were fantastic, I'll always be grateful to Toni for supplying us all with bin liners to cover our heads in the pouring rain . The weather was diabolicle, but they made us sooooooooo welcome & brightened our days & nights
Would definately recomend this bar to anyone & everyone, entertainment every night and a great spanish welcome to all, thankyou to everyone that recommended Popeyes

Is this just a one off do we think.
I wouldn't worry - Es Cana is great for kids and they will be welcome almost anywhere.
It was Maeve who had read the bad reviews somewhere and I think she will tell you the opposite as she has just come back from Es Cana.
John.
ps By the time you read this I will probably be there
I just had to write a coment on Es cana, i have been going there for the past 9-10 years, when my 4 boys were very young (their grwn up now) we are going there in 11 days time......we always spend the later part of the evening in Rio's because the owners there are fantastic very good with children and the atmosphere is out of this world!! Tina and Kerry look after us all very well, they love entertaining younger children......
Another place is Popeyes, they have great live entertainment every night, there is also a small crazy golf course which is hidden away but it keeps the kids....and me amused for hours ...
Every where is soo clean and a friendly warm welcome where ever you go, we are spending our 4th visit in the ,Miami hotel...
Hope you have a great time there, there are 8 of us going and we know we will have a scream
as John said i read some awful reviews on other sites (i won't be looking at again!)
Es Cana is veeeery child friendly, especially Tina & Toni at Popeyes, we had some great days & nights there
Food was great, entertainment was very good,we were made to feel very welcome, they even reserved us tables at the front of the stage for our last night, also Apaches Bar, sounds & looks like an adult only bar but they were great there too, had kids entertainment on early evening.
Marvents at night was great, Charlies bar.... too many to name but they all welcomed young people, my grandaughter (3)& nephew(13) loved it.
Hope you have a fantastic time, we will definately return there
Maeve
Glad you had a great time, makes me feel a lot happier.
I think looking the majority of people have had good experiences and a great time there.
Will look out for bars you have mentioned.
We are staying at Es Cane apartments which I believe is just above Marvent and Charlies.

If you walk straight up to the top of the road, past the fairground and turn right, Poeyes is on the row of shops on the top road. They do breakfast from 10.00a.m. & the food's lovely, very good prices too, Marvent has very nice food too though some of the staff weren't as very friendly as others!
If you go to Popeyes say a big hola from mama ann.....I'm sure they won't have forgotten us yet we had a great time, hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Maeve
