We are off to El Medano on 17th may - me hubby and 2 kids - Have got orselves a villa with a pool - Im so looking forward to this break.
So what can you tell me abou El Medano?
We are flying Ryanair - Anyone done Ryanair before?
Is it easy to grab a cab at the airport or would I be best booking one before I leave uk?
My daughter is dairy intolerent - any ideas if I can get Lactofree milk from the supermarkets.
Sorry loads of questions.
Lou
Loads of taxis at the airport-El Medano is very close to the airport.
Lots of surf board activity-a kind of a windy place.
Fine long beach-the other side of the red mountain is a nudist beach.
Everyone flies Ryanair.
Enjoy your break,
Billyboy.

Lou, You can but Lactose Free Milk in the big supermarkets as I got some from the Mercardo in San Eugino, when I was in PDLA last week.
Taxi. Plenty of them. 10 euros to El Medano. Sheltered part of beach is near to hotel on stilts that protrudes into the sea. Ideal for kiddies, sandy beach slopes slowly into the sea, safe bathing. Plenty of cafes bar/retaurants to choose from.
Original concept of resort is of tall blocks of flats, although plenty of buildings, the centre square and beach area is unspoilt. Weekends, beach is very busy, as locals decend, but makes it even more fun. Market of handicrafts and junk sets-up at weekend in main square.
Local buses serve at cheap prices to other resorts, if the need arises.
Enjoy

Lou,
Can't remember the name but it was in the self life carton milk section away from the milk in fridge! I think is das nada Lactose, you will know by looking at carbohydrate content which should be zero on the back.

Just my thoughts on El Medano.
It`s not quite on the tourist track, it`s fairly quiet and specialises in water sports and has been said a nusist beach.
It has a expat population who love it. There are many canarians who live there which give the cafes and bars a different feel.
It looks as if it has never had any serious money spent on it and is a little run down in parts.
One of the main bones of contention is the massive hotel on the sea front has been closed for awhile, I think the council wanted to knock it down but the locals want to keep it and have it refurbished.
It is a little bit different but that`s all to the good.

el medano is small out the way but has a nice beach and loads of water/board sports going on
prices are above what you will find in americas or cristianos due to captive tourists i would recomend getting a car as more than a week in medano would probably stert grinding on you due to constant winds and lack of activities
