5 days to go and I receive an email telling me that my hotel accommodation has been changed. It seems I must choose between accepting the offer of alternative accommodation or take a refund of the accommodation portion of my holiday and make my own arrangements.
The holiday was originally booked through an internet site with the accommodation part subcontracted to hotels4u.com. The company I booked with can only tell me that hotels4u no longer have a contract with this specific hotel.
Now I booked to go to this particular hotel as I have used it several times before. It is good value, convenient location and I have always been very comfortable there. The alternative offered does not appeal. It looks like I will have to go the refund route and take my chances.
Anyone have any advice to offer? Been in a similar situation?
hi, dora, naughty of them to only just let you know so near your holiday date.!!! Have you tried looking up the hotel you want on other accommodation sites,? you may get an even better deal as it is now so near the date you need. You didn't say where you were going, but I know the hotel I booked to majorca a couple of weeks ago has gone down in price even more, and thats for the end of may for a week. that was with http://www.xcapewithus.com
There are lots of other sites you could try, medhotels, alpharooms, hotelopia, lowcostbeds to name a few.

That's exactly what I did do dotty, but either the hotel is not available or the price is is coming up £70-100 over what I paid a couple of months ago. I've been on lots of sites trawling for a cheap deal.
I think I should just take the refund and then negoitiate with the hotel direct for the same rate or even better. With 15 days away, the refund should have hit my bank account by the time I settle my hotel bill.
My destination is Tunisia btw. At least I've got my ticket. I'll get on the plane regardless.
