Hi all, don't go abroad much so is it best to take sterling and change to euros there or take travellers cheques? Some people say bank cards and use an ATM but not sure if that's a good idea,knowing my luck machine would eat my card then I wouldn't have any money for holiday!!! Any advise??

im off in just under 2 weeks, taking £100 worth of evro, sterling to change in resort and cash card as back up, visa card for gifts etc [insurance cover incase]

Do you get better exchange rate over there or are we better buying euro's here.

I have heard others say you get a better rate in Zante. Will probably take euros and sterling with credit card as back up in case of emergency! Have fun. :tup

we go to greece at least twice a year ..only ever take enough evro for first day or so, always change sterling cash there, just make sure you look around for the best rate [hotels are normaly worse than the uk

Brian if you get chance hop in a taxi to Kalamaki and a restaurant called Mickealos. The best Greek Taverna, in my personal opinion.

When in Kalamaki we eat there as much as possible. They have freshly prepared daily specials, using fresh local ingredients, oooh my mouth is watering already.

we are planning to have a look round the island.. its not that big so i have a few places on the list to see...

We are staying in Laganas as well the Pallas Hotel

Have a look out for a bar called Hot Lips thats where we will be probably

apart from our hotel, i normaly would drink away from the resort areas with the locals, usualy cheaper and if eating food usualy better quality, [we dont drink imported british beers etc we prefer mythos,oozo,metaxa,and my favorite holiday tipple copious quantities of Kokino Krassi (red wine)]

but you never know if we are wandering around the tow we may look in

Good luck finding a local taverna in Laganas :tup

Reason we will be in hotlips our friends own it and thats why were going over.

thanks lynn you have fun as well.. i will try to find a Taverna i dont mind walikg a couple of miles to find an althentic one, and taxies ar not expensive in greece
