Hi there. We upgraded last year and went for food and drink option. We will be doing the same again when we go back this year. Food is so lovely at lunchtime and you can get snacks at the bar, so worth the little bit extra.

Have a good time. Lucky you not long now. I have to wit till 28th June

Hi Flippy,

Thanks for the reply :)
I really can't make my mind up! - how much extra does it work out per day if you take the food and drink option, do you know? It's obviously worth doing.

It's forecast rain next week and I'm so scared we'll have a bad week when we go, so keeping everything crossed!

When you pay for AI on arrival, how do you pay, euros, travellers cheques etc

Just think, when I'm back in the UK, you'll only have approx 4 weeks - then I'LL be jealous!

Have a great one!

you might as well make something up at breakfast for snacks.save a little bit of money.like most people do.i mean breakfast is untill 10.30 anyway.if you cannot get up by then you are really wasting your money.

don;t forget its not per person.its per booking you may be able if you ask nicely.per room and can only be used at the hotel you are staying in.pay with cash euro;s or nationwide card.

plus don;t forget other offers fiesta hotel group have...ie eat out/points.

Hi djwoody,

Thanks so much for the link!

If we were late risers, I'd agree and go for just the drinks option but as we're only going for 7 nights, we really want to make the most of it and get up early (well that's what we intend to do anyway!)

I think we're going to go for the full-package, especially as it's only 2 euros extra for a child. BARGAIN!

Just one more point if I may, the rule of no drinks allowed in the rooms, which is fair enough, but surely that doesn't apply to bottled water?

Many thanks again

Sorry Helen i have just got back online. I didnt even look into just drinks option as i knew i would want the full AI. I like the fact that the kids can go and get toasted sandwiches and hot dogs at the bar anytime of the day. We dont have our evening meal till late so having lunch in the restarant at about 1 suits us.

You are going to have a fantastic time. Please come back and tell us how it went. Ohh im getting all excited now. xx

I've been looking into staying here for summer 09 but I'm a bit put off because of the other hotels being sold off by Thomsons. Is it the Beach club? It seems that some are being sold to the Itallian market and loads of people going this year will find out that it's not just Thomson there anymore.
Last thing I want to do is book this and have Thomson sell it again!
Does anyone know of anything in the pipeline for this hotel?
Cheers

Hi,

We're off to Bahamas Hotel in 2 weeks,it has been sold off,we were told that we could cancel our booking or transfer it to another hotel but if we transferred to another fiesta hotel there was no guarantee that the same thing wouldn't happen again. We decided to leave things as they are and see what happens. We can compare as we've been 3 times already. It seems the hotels are rented to Fiesta group and now they want to concentate on a different market.Thompsons didn't tell us about the change until January but nobody could book the hotel on the internet for quite a while before that.Thomsons told us that they didn't know who had taken it over,we found out because our friends booked through an independent travel agents and they were more helpful.Hope this helps you, wish us luck.

grupo playa sol group have bought the algarb and Bahamas.it was to fund new hotels for fiesta group somwhere else..gps own a lot of hotels and aptts now in playa den bossa.past 4 years now i have booked direct with hotel... algarb.even with it begin sold and new owners i have booked again (try it out)..mine you its the locaction i like).i booked with a cheaper site than gps home site.got 20% off as well.i have been told that all the staff apart from the manager will still be there.but no fiesta reps.

will have to wait and see how it is going 19th may 16days.

by the way Thomsons don;t own the hotels you know.they are just a booking agent, and if you notice over the years the italians are now taking over the resort more and more.ie bars/shops ect plus hotels

also they own around 50 hotels and aptts on the island now

The Bahamas is not owned by GPS. The Algarb is though.

I was given the name of the new owners by Fiesta themselves when we found out they had sold it off.

Its not a big name like gps but cant remember it as its on my other computer and that is out of action for a while.
Unfortunately I have hd to cancel my holiday this year due to personal circumstances but might hopefully be able to get away for a week later ( Im praying)
Might even try Bahamas as we were originally going there and have been twice already, would be fun to compare.

All booked for 09 at Don Toni Hotel in August :)

Hi all

We were told the owners have a small hotel, quite expensive,I think it is Casapla or something similar the owner actually replied to an e-mail I sent about being able to get the drinks option as we have before,it is still available and he told me if I have any other questions to just get in touch again,he was very accommodating. The Don Toni sounds very good so maybe we'll take a look round with next year in mind, see how we like Bahamas ,then decide. Will post review on our return.

Hi Flippy,

Oh my gosh, I can't believe we're going this Sat! I'm worried about the weather but intend to enjoy myself no matter what! We've decided to upgrade to the full all inclusive package when we arrive :)
I'll definitely let you know how the holiday went when I return!

Oh, and could I ask, are there hairdryers in the rooms? Doesn't matter if there isn't, but wanted to ask as I don't want to pack one if there is.

Many Thanks!

We are giving Ibiza a miss this year and have chosen Gran Canaria instead (just like a change)

We were less than impressed with our second stay at Don Toni last September, everything was as good as our first stay except the noise!
Food was terrific, rooms cleaned to a very high standard, but we were victims of the Fiesta group cramming large groups of Spanish youths into the hotel in order to keep it profitable last September, which incidentally was not a surprise as the island was without doubt quieter than the previous year.
Our first week was fine, but the second week (8th September on) was a nightmare!
As the Brits and Germans left on the Friday and Saturday the hoards of young Spaniards streamed in, we enjoyed some chat and drinks with them on their first night and they were very nice kids....They told us how they had booked last minute and boasted of having Seven (yes seven) staying in one room. They had been given a very cheap rate and had come over on the Valancia Ferry service.
That night was the first of Seven nights from hell!

The sound of banging hotel room doors kept us awake that night and every night for the rest of our holiday, they were running up and down the corridors until daylight and we even had to call security to break up a party in the room opposite us that was still going on at 6am!

Our own door was constantly being knocked by drunken young Spanish kids trying to find their friends and even though we begged to be moved the management offered no help whatsoever. The final straw was a pool of vomit directly outside of our door.

It was only after speaking to the third Rep we found (who turned out to be a senior Rep) that the management finally stopped the disruption, unfortunatley it was the last night of our holiday and for us the stay had been ruined.

I have to say that the tour operator was surprisingly understanding and early this year we received a £250 voucher from Portland and their apologies after carrying out their own investigation and finding many other complaints from customers regarding this matter.
We also have a letter of apology from Fiesta and a written promise of 50% discount if we rebook with them within the next two years.
Apparantly Fiesta had advertised their empty rooms on a Spanish Student and Clubbing website on the mainland and they went on to admit it was mistake they would not be repeating in future, which was very honest of them and somewhat refreshing.

Shame really, love the hotel and adore the island....maybe give it a go again next year

The same thing happened when we stayed at the Beach Club! There were loads of Itallian 18-39's there! This was the main holiday season in August! I couldn't believe it as it's the last thing you'd expect at a supposed family hotel! There were fights and all sorts!!!
