Hi jojo, we're going on 15th June too, from Birmingham. We've kids aged 11, 8, and twins 6. Foxymum will be there too a few days later. Anyone wanting to say hello can spot us, family of 6 with little girl, 6, very curly (think Shirley Temple), long fair/light brown hair (she's also quite a lot taller than her blonde, straight haired twin brother!)

Starting to pack now, getting all excited. Have just emailed the hotel asking to be put together on the world side so will see what transpires.

Still not sure about what currency to take as no replies so far on that :(

Jojo, I believe there are clubs but from what I've heard they are a bit geared to the dutch so we'll have to wait and see.

hiya  yes i will be there a few days later on the 19th yipee getting excited now.
pamplemousse ; as for the currency we are taking, we have been advised to take mostly turkish lira, also the £50 entance fee (£10 each) to Turkey itself.
still not too sure how much to take :think husband said earlier today about £500.

also as for the locals in Kusadasi, i have been told on numerous occasions by friends who have been to Turkey that the Turkish are so friendly & especially love children.
but also try to sell you lots of things from their shops! but i guess this happens where ever you go abroad. :sun2

I emailed the hotel the other day and got a reply to night to say they'll give us rooms close by with a nice view. I requested both to be together on the world side with a pool or sea view so we'll see what they come up with!

Getting my hair/brows/lashes/nails done tomorrow and on final countdown.............5 sleeps and counting :cheers

hi all,
i returned from aqua fantasy on 30th May after a fantastic 2 week holiday there with my husband and 2 children aged 13 and 9. we loved this hotel and wish we were going back. as far as money goes we found that they will take both lira, english pounds and euros most things in the shops are priced in turkish and euros it is useful to have an idea of exchange rates as i think they sometimes make them up especially in the market. The hotel wanted 20 euro as deposit for the safety deposit box key but we had to pay for the hire of the safe in lira! We took a bit of all 3 and managed fine. to e mail the hotel go on their web site and just click on the contact us link. hope you all have a great time we are really jealous if i can help anymore please just ask.

Hi peapods.
Glad you had a good time. I have some questions!!
How much was the safety deposit box to hire?
Is there a fridge and tea/coffee facilities in the room?
Did you find there were lots of "extras" that needed paying for (eg. kids activities etc)?
How was the food? Can you recommend one restaurant over another or were they all good?

Thanks!
Lynda xx
Going 21st Ausust and can't wait!

hi Lynda,
i will try to answer your questions as best as i can. I can't remember exactly how much the safe deposit box was but i think it was around 75 lira for two weeks. You had to pay for the hire in lira but the deposit for the key was 20 euro. I would suggest getting a receipt for the deposit as when we checked out they had no record of us paying a deposit. After us insisiting that we had they did eventually give us the 20 Euro.
There is a mini bar in the room which is not part of AI and expensive to use or so i was told they may empty it for you if you ask, there are no tea/coffee making facalities but hot drinks are available from all bars until 11pm. We took our own tea bags as Liptons tea is not the best.
We didn't use any of the other restaurants as we were more than happy with what was on offer in the main ones. It was 20 lira each in the al a carte ones not sure about the charge for children. My 9 yr old is a very fussy eater and he always found something that he liked.
There are a lot of extras that you can pay for but we didn't use our splash card at all. canoes and pedaloes on the sea are free but you have to pay for banana boat, jet skis etc. we didn't use the kids club so i'm afraid i can't help you there. The drinks on the AI plan are not the best that we have experienced but beer, wine and local spirits such as brandy and vodks are fine.
We had a fantastic time and would definarely go back again but there were people moaning whilst we were there i guess you can't please everyone.
I'm sure you will have a fab time

Thanks for the info re the safety deposit box. Will remember to ask for a receipt for the deposit! Glad the food was good from the normal buffet restaurants. We are only going for a week so hopefully we wont tire of the food as we are on a tight budget this year so don't really want to pay for the a la cartes or too many activities if we can help it.

I also know what you mean about people moaning, some people are never happy but as long as we get some sun and the food and drink is palatable, that's enough to keep me happy!

Couple more questions if anyone can answer! What time is ice cream served and where do you get it? Also has anyone tried booking a late check out and if so what time does it run til and how much? We don't fly til the early hours of the morning but will have to check out the day before at noon I imagine - eek!

Thanks

hi,
ice cream is only served on the AI plan from 1-2pm in both the normal restaurants and only for children 12 and under. i thought this was a bit mean as my daughter is 13 and we had to pay adult price for her but she couldn't get an ice cream. she just told them she was 12 if they asked lots of adults were also getting ice cream and saying it was for their kids and got away with it. you can buy it at other times but it was very expensive so we didn't bother.
we booked a late check out room it was 55 lira to keep it until 6pm and i think 75 lira til 11pm we only kept others til 6pm which worked fine for us it would depend really on the ages of your children there is a courtesy room that you can use to shower etc we were picked up at 2am so it was a long evening
i know what you mean about being on a budget we didnt feel the need to spend any on extras and didn't go without any thing if you go to the waterpark you can just nip back through the gate to the bar at the volcano pool
hope you all have a fab time i'm sure you will

hi Peapods, yes i agree about the icecream, does seem a bit strange that its only for an hour a day too??
mmm, luckily my daughter is not 12 till July, so shes ok.
with the late check out, do you book it when you get there? or not.
also do the coaches pick you up at a certain time when its time to go home? i mean back to the airport, our home bound flight is 12.10 AM! yuck!
so we would probably need to leave for the airport at around 8 ish or so?
thanks for your help. :sun2

hi,
you can book the late check out up to 24 hrs before you depart. What airport are you flying from in Turkey? We flew from Izmir and were picked up at 2am our flight was 5am . The coaches have a set time for pick ups it is all on the info board by the reps desk.
Have fun

great thanks for that.
yes we are flying from Izmit to Gatwick, getting scared now :yikes
we were on the official webite last night & saw all these piccies of the restaurants like burger bars & a BBQ bit, are all these included in the AI ? i'm worried we're not going to be able to know whats included & whats not.
thanks.

Hi peapods
Thanks so much for the info re late check out. We too fly from Izmir at 5.10am so I imagine will be leaving resort at 2ish like you. Good to know that we can get a late check out as FC said it wasn't available.

Re the ice cream, it's a good job my 14yo son is small - he'll get away with being 12 no problem :D
