Hi all. It will be my friend's birthday while we are in Sa Coma. Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant, either Cala Bona or Cala Millor? Thanks in advance.

Hi, we got back from Sa Coma at the weekend. It was our second holiday there. Last year we stayed at The Safari Park and this year at The Vista Badia and we had a lovely time there :sun2

We were self catering and went to Salvators for almost every evening meal and I can't recommend this little restaurant enough. Average cost for a meal for 2 adults and 3 children including drinks and desserts was 40 euros. Fantastic quality food, large portions and very friendly service. The childrens portions would have easily fed an adult! If you go you must try the Pizzas, the Grilled Chicken and the Fillet Steak :tongue

We tried The Kings Head but weren't impressed, the desserts were rubbish and most of the food was straight out of the freezer and not good quality. We also tried Bi Ba Bo in S'Illot as we had a nice meal there last year but were disappointed this year.

There's a nice little Cafe on the corner of the road where the entrance to the Coma Gran is, just up the road from The Britannia bar, I can't remember the name (maybe someone else will?) but they have some gorgeous pastries and cakes if you fancy a snack while you're wandering around the shops.

Already looking at booking The Vista Badia again next year as it's a great family hotel but mainly because we can't wait to go to Salvators again!

Oh and keep out of the Spar's, go to Caprabo, it's much much cheaper.

Hi there asp31. We did try Antic in S'illot (next door to Bi Ba Bo). There were four of us and 2 of the meals were good but the other 2 not so good. Ordered a well done steak and it arrived 'still grazing' and a battered cod from the specials board, which we expected to be fresh. Unfortunately, the fish was cooked on the outside (the batter) but still frozen on the inside so both meals had to be sent back. The steak came back beautifully cooked but my friend was a bit put off by the fish. Can't say we had a memorable meal in Sa Coma but on the last night (after we had eaten) came across the Bodega which looked very Spanish, all the tables beautifully set with white linen (probably not they type of place most people in Sa Coma were looking for). Has anyone eaten there? Wish we had found it earlier but most recommendations seem to be for the British food at the Kings Head, Britannia, JJ's etc
For main meals we were paying between 10 and 14 euros for fish or steak, which was a lot more expensive than Greece when we were there Spring Bank (and the quality of food in Greece was far superior). Drinks were between 13 and 19 euros for 4 shorts and 2/3 mixers (and they weren't particularly large measures except in Salvatores where they were HUGE!!
BTW before anyone ventures onto the beach, we were charged 27 euros for 4 sunbeds and 2 brollies.
We didn't think Sa Coma was particularly busy but not surprising when looking at the prices of food, drink and sunbeds on the beach :yikes

Been back a week and our long weekend is just a distant memory :bawl . Sa Coma wasn't too busy while we were there. Wonder if it's busier this week. Looking for a late deal for August so might be heading back :D

Got back from Vista Badia (3rd visit) in Sa Coma yesterday (and I'm still sulking) I tried to persuade the kids to sell pinapples and water melon on the beach and my other half to become "the very busy lifeguard" round the pool so we could stay!! I have already started looking at prices for late Aug but cant find flights with transfers. Does any one know how much a taxi would cost from the airport to Vista Badia?? I dont fancy hiring a car all those roundabouts put me off!
Thanks Sue J :cheers

Hi there Sue J. Taxi from the airport to Sa Coma cost us 140 euros return with Janerbus (June this year). Someone said there is a bus that runs every hour from the airport to Sa Coma but we didn't check this out because our flight didn't arrive in Palma until about 11 pm. BTW was Sa Coma getting busy? It was quiet mid June. Was Delanays open while you were there?

Hi Sue J, try resorthoppa.com, we paid £80 both ways for 2 adults 2 children and 1 infant.

We also stayed at the Vista Badia - sounds like the Life Guard didn't get any busier then! We're going back next year :cheers it'll be our 2nd time at The Vista Badia, we've also stayed at The Safari but it's a bit big and noisy for us!

Suej, please don't let it put you off driving. A hire car gives you flexibility whilst there, believe me, I felt exactly the same as you until I tried it and it really is like riding a bike, once you've mastered it you never forget.

is the route from teh airport to Sa Coma OK then. We went for the hire car, 140Euros on bus transfer or the same to have a car all week sold it to us, gives us flexibility to get out and about a bit if need be. First time to Vista Badia but so far even the pre-arrival has been fine, any questions I asked and I have had email/phone call from teh hotel in less than 24 hours with response. Can't wait for September

Thanks for those replys will check out the website - sorry to seem dim but if I did want a taxi do I just get one at the airport?? Also is that the same for car hire? - do you just need a driving licence and do you have to let your insurance company know?? By the way Barnio - you aint seen my driving on uk roads! (lol)
Yes Loopy Lobes it did get busier. We arrived at Vista Badia on 12th June, just missed the bad weather. And were shocked at how quite it was - thought the weather had put people off.By the 18th the Vista Badia was packed and I did set the alarm clock at 8.30am to put towels on the sunbeds.(shame on me). The lifeguard earnt his money one day cause I had to ask for a plaster for my daughters toe.

Jake, the route to Sa Coma is easy, out of the airport, a couple of roundabouts to negotiate then new dual carriageway virtually all the way.

Suej, pre book prior to departure, use their insurance and just take BOTH parts of your UK driving licence.

Me and a couple of friends and our kids went to Sa Coma two years and hired cars at the airport. No problems at all. If I recall we just headed for Manacor then Porto Cristo and got there without getting lost :) . Hardly used the car though cos the weather was fantastic (October half term) so made the most of the sunshine :sun2 .
