Hi everyone.
Having just returned from Faliraki and after two years of going there we are seriously thinking of going back to Golden Sands next year. We stayed at the Helios Spa Resort (AI) in 05 and the Bonita (BB) in 06 so are pretty well clued up on the main area and location of most of the popular hotels. What would be helpful to us is more up to date exchange rate info for The Leva as Sterling has really taken a REAL bashing. The best I can find 2.37 Leva to the £...blimey, it was 2.75 to the £ back in 06..!!!
A large draught beer was about 1.50/2 lev back then and cocktails ranged from 4/5 levs depending on the bar/restaurant/hotel.and type. What can I expect to pay at the moment..?
A main meal was roughly 6/10 lev depending on what you ordered while a decent steak meal seemed around 10/15 lev....What can I expect tp pay today...?
Will probably go BB again (AI in 05 seemed rather poor value first time round) so any info on current restaurant/bar prices will be muchly appreciated.
One of the big reasons for going back to GS in 09 is cos it was relatively bloody cheap back in 05/06 and the people were great to talk to and made us very very welcome. As I am a Pompey fan too I was greeted with big smiles from all those locals who know their Premier (gerana and mama mia guys were brilliant) and as one of their own (Todorov) played superbly for us back in 03. Now we've won The FA Cup this year I'm hoping for a siimlar welcome as I wear my various Pompey tops while out and about next year.
...thanks in advance for any info supplied...Jim

You will find today's cash rate in 3 Bulgarian high street banks in my regularly updated (at least, until next Thursday) post HERE. You had a pretty poor rate in 2006, I was receiving 2.88-2.91 on average last year on my Nationwide Flex Debit Card and a similar rate in 2006.
As the Lev is directly pegged to the Euro at the official Bulgarian National Bank rate of €1 = 1.95583 Leva, expect any fluctuations in the Sterling/Euro rate to be reflected in the Sterling/Lev rate.
See recent posts, such as Tonyt's posts of 23rd May & 1st June in this thread, his prices refer to Albena but will be similar enough to those in Golden Sands to give you some idea.
