Thought it might be an idea to get some recommendations for Thai restaurants outside the land of smiles for those of us who need our fix of Thai food now and then. Biggest complaint though is why is Thai food so expensive outside Thailand.
Anyhow can recommend the Thai Thai restaurant in Barcelona where I've just returned from. Possibly the best Thai food I've had in Europe.
And must mention our local favourite the Thai House in Cardiff, good nosh and quite good for celeb spotting.
and Siam in Essex, both our favourites.
as for barcelona, sorry, dont think i've ever seen one
Bintang in Camden / Mornington Cresent used to offer fab cheap Indo food. Not Thai, but in keeping with the theme!
Glasgow - Thai Fountain
Edinburgh - Thai Lemongrass
Aberdeen - Saigon
All wonderful with the Thai Fountain just edging it.
As I'm up in Glasgow during the week I'll have to search out the Thai Fountain..thanks

I love this place and living in the burbs we don't get there often enough.

Now your talking... If you ever find yourselves in Melbourne go to Thai Thani in Brunswick St, Fitzroy. It's wonderful and not too exxy. BYO wine only. I love this place and living in the burbs we don't get there often enough.

Sunbear it's near Charing Cross, there is a map on their website.
Glasgow - Thai Fountain
Seriously?? I've always found it very average and wouldn't go back. Thai Lemongrass has a place in Glasgow now aswell, if it's as good as the Edinburgh one then it's a winner. The best in Edinburgh though is Dusit on Thistle St.
If anyone is in Puerto Banus or surrounding area, I can highly recommend Top Thai. It's basically a Thai kitchen in Centro Plaza, just next to the bullring. Best thai food I've tasted outside of Bangkok.
I can recommend Coriander Thai restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City , Vietnam and also Lemongrass in Phnom Penh - both are top class
Totally agree with opening post The Thai house in Cardiff is fantastic
we did try the Thai Edge in Cardiff, as a change from the usual Thai House meal and to be honest we were disappointed. So its the Thai House for us from now on.
If in Albufeira, Algarve ZaZa Asian street kitchen is OK for a change from Portuguese fare with Thai, Japanese and Indonesian/Malay dishes...quite a funky restaurant as well. The Royal Orchid in Albufeira often gets recommended, but we were a bit dissapointed when we visited.
If ever your in Adelaide South Australia The Amarin Thai Restaurant is very good.
Choparaya and try thai in manchester city centre-- amazing food..
Where is the Thai House in Cardiff please?
Thai house Cardiff is stunning. Can't tell you the way as hubby always guides the way when we go there.
Thai House
Thanks sunbear - I'm in Cardiff for the weekend. If I get time I'll check it out.
We forgot to take the address with us, so phoned our SIL. We still couldn't find it. On the way back to the the hotel in the taxi we drove right past it. I'm not panicking because its right next door to the hotel we're staying in in October.
