Id put them in my case, although if you want to save weight in your case, you could put them in your hand luggage. Its your personal choice
There's only me travelling so weight isn't an issue. Thanks.
I would put them in your suitcase or you will have to throw them in the bin at security.
Turkey may not let you import it as it is a pork product but I don't think it's illegal to take it out of the UK.
Meats in any form are not allowed into EC countries, and although Turkey isn't an EC country they tend to adhere to this rule ............ IF they find the contraband. Your choice, your conscience.
i take loads of bacon and pate in my suitcase every year i didnt think it was a problem id better rethink as were off on tue and its all in my freezer.
I took some tins of chillicon carne in my hand luggage this year and after the bag was put through the scanner they were immediately taken from me!! I was advised that had I put them in my suitcase there would have been no problem.
The problems with tins is that security can't be sure what's in them without opening them - which sort of defeats the object of taking them. Spam and Semtex have a similar consistency which would make Xray pointless. Vac-packed bacon on the other hand is obvious and therefore not a security issue (even if it is illegal to import it into your destination).
IF they find the contraband. Your choice, your conscience.
Lol! Contranband, what a load of tosh! They don't give a stuff about pork products, hell, there's even a shop in Hisaronu that sells only pork and all the restaurants advertise bacon and pork. It went through in my suitcase no problem.
And 'contraband' is anything that contravenes the importation rules of that country. You smuggled in Spam in contravention of Turkish Customs regulations - that makes it contraband - and as Alsacienne said 'Your choice, your conscience'. The choice you made clearly didn't bother your conscience but you asked for advice and Alsacienne gave it to you in good faith - please don't ridicule her for doing so just because you decided to ignore it.

I didn't ask for advice whether or not to take it.
And Alsacienne's advice in response to your query was essentially 'Neither' - to not pack it in either your hand luggage or your case and she gave the reason for her reply.
I didn't ask for advice whether or not to take it.
You actually asked in your first post where to pack a particular food product.
By its nature HT is an advice forum where members try to post helpful advice.
There is no guarantee that the advice given will be what someone wishes to hear.
If someone decides to ignore the advice then any problems they run into are their own fault.
A couple of years ago someone complained in the press when heavily fined for taking a Banana into Australia. As with other countries they are a banned product and a large sign is displayed with a bin for you to dispose of any items - she chose to ignore it.
You can buy many of these products within the country but the import of them is strictly controlled - the comment on the foot and mouth outbreak is an example of the dangers.
There is a sign in most airports advising what you may not bring in. Just like bringing in more fags and booze limits - 99 times out of a 100 you may get away with it.
The advice given is to help you avoid being the one who gets caught.
