Bars
Star Bar above Star Restaurant is run by Bahadir from the Old Baraca bar and has a nice atmosphere and good music. Beer is 5 lira
There is not nther bars as such but most restaurants and cafes are happy to just serve drinks.
Star Restaurant is good and the tender lamb is excellent- Josh there is a great guy and will make you welcome. White Corner run by Aylin is very pretty and Ä° can recommend her Bernaise Steak with garlic potatoes. Long Street cafe has tasty food at good prices and is more than heppy to just serve drinks - the place is spotless. Ä° own the Olive Tree restaurant in Long street so surf the web to see comments on the place as Ä° can hardly recommend myself. Tokmak Hassan Lokanta Ä° think is the best and most reasonable and attracts many of the local Turk. Alacati has attracted the society Turks so the prices are unbelievably high over there but Agrilla seems to be a bit more reasonable. Alcohol is heavily taxed especially imported so try and stick to local drinks. Never order wine without asking the price first as some of the restaurants and especially the fish restaurants charge silly money but an average price is between 20 to 30 lira for a reasonable bottle.
Any more questions feel free to ask.
Karen
thanks for the info appreciated
ER Cesmeresident dont be shy the olive tree has a good reputation this from alot of expats and turks I know in the cesme area and I hear these things in Antalya on the other coast.
Thanks for the endorsement. Ä° get people from the boat community and many of them winter in the Antalya region so Ä° am guessing that is one way the word spreads!
Will give more details later.
Ä° am not a strong swimmer so just feed and stroked the Dolphins and it was absolutely fantastic. The ones that swam made me jealous so Ä° am going to get better and do it in September (with a life jacket!!!)
As for Ceasme itself i have never been there, we are going in late may(22 may), what are the teperatures like at that time, i hear the seabreeze can be pretty cold?
any special things we need to go see or any trips to advice?
Champ,
i have been reading reviews of all the hotels we have ever gone to, and there are allways people complaining no matter how good and nice it is, so i stopped listening to complaints about those small things, but then again we dont care to complain about those small details, we look at the big picture.
We visited Cesme in 2001 and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, even being filmed and interviewed by TV program makers whilst we walked around the castle.
I actually preferred it to Kusidasi, although Kusi has the very big plus of being within walking distance of 2 excellent water parks and Ephesus.
The Donkey Island boat trip from Cesme was very very good and shamed the one laid on in Kusidasi by JMC.
Whatever happened to the Club Pomelan?
We had an absolutely fantastic holiday there, maybe helped by a town centre hotel turfing all the locals out to the outside TV to watch Turkey play, and giving us the massive indoor TV along with many crates of beer and food for the 5-1 drubbing of Germany.
Our second week had the hotel increase its percentage of Albanian holiday makers, who on the whole showed little respect for the hotel or staff. We heard that many people the week or two after ended up in hospital on drips, but have not heard much of it since, except when I found it for sale at a silly price once on the web.
steve we stayed at the club pomelan too and had a great holiday, there was 18 of us and we were there also in 2001, but i heard that they had had lots of complaints and jmc who used them at the time dropped them from their brochure, i often wonder what became of it too, there was 2 incidents whilst we were there not involving any of our party, first 1 was some british guy had his drink spiked in the disco and got taken to hospital and another was when a british woman had a huge row with a turkish woman over the british womans son behaving extremely badly, he was around 6-8 ish and he was picking on a few turkish kids around ages 2-4, ie jumping on these turkish young kids in the pool, splashing them in the face, generally causing deliberate nuisance of himself, the turkish woman smacked this english lad and the mother insisted the police were called, not sure what happened in either of this incidents
Just met some people where staying at the Piril for a few days and they told me they could not fault the food.
