Direct Holidays did this to my friend 3 weeks ago. They phoned her and said they were over booked and moved her to another hotel. She had booked AL and when she got there she discovered it was full board and ended up having to pay out extra money. She got £350 compo but she's discovered that there was a difference of £500 on their site and printed this all off and wants the extra money refunded. It's shocking that they are taking 2 weeks to refund the money as your friend is missing out on her holiday and unless she has a credit card can't book another holiday. I'd advise her to phone Ros the Solicitor that HT recommends.

I really feel for your friend, that is terrible.

Was this booked on the phone or on line?

I would definitely phone Ros.

All these complaints about the big TO really have convinced me never to book through an operator again. It would appear that none have them even know the meaning of the word "customer"

Definitely DIY for me from now on.

40 pounds!!! I would want more than that.....I'd say something like 400! She needs to put her foot down and not accept the 40 but insist for more money.
