You certainly need to put your complaint to Virgin Holidays in writing. It can not of been pleasant but it is good to hear that the hotel acted promptly to move you, paid your medical treatment costs and compensated you.
You mention http://they put us in a hotel that had an ongoing bed bug problem. How do you know this? If other holidaymakers who stayed at the same time had the same problem, did you collect their details? If so I would included them in your letter to Virgin. Also include copies of the photographs that you took.

Any claim for refunds or compensation need to be taken up with the TO who you booked with - Virgin in this case.
The fact the hotel did assist is to be commended but your contract in law is with the TO. They sub contract with the hotel to provide you with accommodation etc where booked here in the UK. They are also responsible for things like trips booked in resort with their representative but not direct with the hotel.
Reps may assist but cannot refund you. Did you complete a complaint form is resort?

TO's are responsible for services provided by their agents. Therefore Virgin are responsible for any failings etc in services provided.

Hi there, my family and I have just returned from Florida where we were subjected to bedbugs for 8 days, we originally thought that it was a sweat rash due to the humidity but on the eighth day I found a bug crawling on my chest. We complained to the hotel, The Best Western Lakeside after we pulled back the blankets on the beds we saw all of the bugs crawling about. The hotel moved us to a clean room but by this point we were all covered in bites and scratching, my wifes bites all became blistered as she always reacts badly to insect bites. My main complaint here is that I had paid Virgin Holidays a lot of money for this trip, they put us in a hotel that had an ongoing bed bug problem, the hotel were very helpful obviously paid our chemist bills, moved us to a new room and will refund one nights stay, but Virgin aren't interested at least not in the resort or at the Downtown checkin. Just that stupid cheesy grin..Anyway I want some redress for a ruined holiday, we had 30 days of park visits and used 6 of them as neither my wife or daughter wanted to go anywhere due to their skin conditions and the constant scratching and crying. I have some video and photos of the bugs and also of my wife after she returned from our local GP as she is still badly marked 7 days after returning home. please all advice is appreciated... Steve
