Hi,

I can only help with one of your questions, and that's about the weather. I've been to Turkey twice in September, both times on gullet cruises, I must say it's a bit hit and miss at that time of the year, we did manage to get suntanned but also saw some spectacular thunderstorms - which is very exciting when you're anchored down in one of the many coves. To be honest we did have much more sun than rain, go and enjoy yourselves there is always somewhere to shelter from the rain, hope you have a great time.

Hiya MissB, welcome to H.T...(careful, its so addictive)

we have been going to marmaris beginning of october for the last couple of years... going again this year, the weather has always been lovely and hot, with the exception of a couple of storms, everything is still open, and theres loads of boat trips, dont think it starts closing down until end of october... not too sure about the ramadan question... I believe it ends toward the end of september this year...although not really sure when!

hope you enjoy your hols...

all the best

Hi, we go to Turkey every September (Gumbet but it's not that far from Marmaris) and we've always had good weather (seen about half an hour of rain in a fortnigh each time). September is a great time to go 'cos it's still alive and everything's still open (but not mad busy), hot (but not too hot). We were there last year when it was Ramadan (or Ramazan as the Turkish call it) but you wouldn't really notice it - apart from the fact that a lot of the waiters, etc will be fasting during the day and I used to wonder how they managed to serve food and drink to us when they must have been dying for some themselves - but you wouldn't have noticed by their attitude.

Ramadan this year is from 1st to 30th September. The fast starts the night before.

The weather should still be good, maybe a bit cooler in the evenings but that's all. Most resorts don't start to wind down until mid october so it should be lively (although I have never been to Icmeler).

Ramadan starts 1st September this year but you wont really notice it much in a tourist resort, some people will be fasting others wont. It wont affect your holiday in any way though. The last 4 days of Ramazan are a festival, where and the banks, post office etc are closed an lots of people are out celebrating so it is nice to be there for that.

Been a few times in September and the weather was great; don't think i could cope with July and August
heat as was hot enough in September! The sea was nice and warm and a bit quieter on the tourist front also. We are booked for Dalyan end of Sept beginning os october so hoping my own advice is good...
Have a fab holiday

Hi there,
We are going on 15th sept and usually the weather is gorgeous during the day (about late thirties) and slightly cooler during the evening (about 20 so still warmer than july evenings here).

It is slightly quieter on the bars/restaurants but there is still a great atmosphere and it just means you get served quicker! :cheers

Ramadan doesn't effect anything at all.... our friends do ramadan but by the time the sun goes down they can eat, drink and do whatever. They still serve the food and drink etc during the day... we never even noticed a difference, except the big party when it's finshed.

You will havea fab time! Hope you find a good deal!

I first went to Icmeler on the 18th September 2005 for 2 weeks and the weather was fab the whole time we were there and still really hot. I didn't even need a cardi in the evenings. I am going on the 9th September and if the weather stays simular to what it is now should be fab, i don't mind if it gets slightly cooler as it is between 45 and 50 at the min. I have had that and higher in Egypt for the last 2 years. but would like to go and do some stuff so slightly cooler would be better.

Ramadan will make no difference to your holiday.

Hope you have a great time.

HI

I went to Turkey last september (8) to Marmaris. The weather was excellent about 32 c daily. It didnt rain once! The resort is still buzzing at that time if year especially the Bar Street end and i believe all the shops and bars were stil open.

I didnt notice anything about Ramadan... These guys are commited to making sure you have a lovely time in their country as it's the main source of income for that part of the country,so if they are fasting etc you would'nt notice.

I am also going to Lara in Sept this year. Hope that answers you questions , i'm sure you'll have a fab time.
