Better than in the UK but rather hit and miss. My first visit to Tunisia was in February many years ago and it was absolutely fantastic but it certainly can't be guaranteed. Unlike the Caribbean, you are unlikely to encounter hurricanes but if you get the winds blowing sand in your face as you walk along the Corniche you will certainly find it stings. :D

Hi sharon366, Frank and I live in Tunisia every year from November until the end of April and there is no way that anyone can give you a reliable weather forecast for any of those months. The winters are totally unpredictable and the temperatures can range from the mid 50*f to the mid 70's. We have spent winters there when the weather has been glorious apart from the odd couple of days and in one unforgettable and very unusual winter - apart from 13 days, we had rain every single day for the 6 months. I have had the pleasure of seeing guests sunbathing in bikinis all through the Christmas holiday and I have seen guests dragging their children around all thorough the Christmas holiday in cold icy gales - which if heartbreaking. If you really want decent weather, I'd wait until the end of April to be sure of getting that enviable tan. All best - Jenny x

I can't really add anything to that, you've just had replies from the best informed two Brits on here.

I too have visited Tunisia in the winter and can only confirm the above. Last year at Christmas the Ile de Djerba had such a bad storm the causeway was damaged and it rained for 16 hours. We've been there at the same time and sunbathed in 18 C.

A friend of mine that lives in Douz said that February is quiet for them as the tourists don't come because of the weather.
This year we spent 8 days in Tunisia in April and the weather was lovely, hot even.

Hi Kevin - I have just had your post brought to my attention - don't know how I missed it. Thanks for the compliment, but no way do I consider myself an expert on Tunisia - although I can hopefully answer some of the queries - and actually living there as opposed to being on holiday does gives me a different insight.
What I would like to say - and I'm sure that my friend Aslemma would agree with me here - you can knock spots of both of us with your knowledge of extensive independent travel in Tunisia - especially in the remote Sahara regions - and how I at least envy you!! I would like to insert a link here to your excellent website, which would create widespread admiration, but sadly, don't know how to do that. All best Kevin and keep exploring. All best - Jenny x

Jenny has certainly summed it up. I am by no way an expert on Tunisia as unfortunately I can only visit it a couple of times a year, and invariably stay in the Sousse/PEK area, but having done so for some time now I am able to give a few pointers gleaned from my experiences. I should love to be able to travel the country as you have done Kevin, or stay for six months like Jenny and her husband, though I freely admit not in Mahdia in the winter as it is rather too quiet for me. Just over four weeks now and I'll be back in Sousse where I hope to exchange my brown rust colour to a nice tan. Unfortunately, not only am I missing Jenny this time but also Pittie, who is going out before me and will be back in the Netherlands when I arrive in Sousse. Sorry, I know this is seriously :offtop but before I slink off with my tail between my legs, have you any trips planned at the moment Kevin?
