TeeCee, I can echo what you have said. We have often though on return from Vegas (and sometimes other places) that we'd give it a rest and maybe not run back. However once you have a few months to reflect on your trip I think you somehow yearn to go back. Must be quite a common thing. Ju, time will tell.
Well....how long now TeeCee? It's a week tomorrow for me and I'm starting to get excited. I have even started laying out some clothes etc and I'll pack toiletries at the weekend. We have a wedding tomorrow all day and evening, so the weekend will fly past....and hopefully the next week will too.
On a less cheery note, we're also booked to go to Miami for a cruise in November (can't really see beyond Vegas yet, so probably haven't mentioned it). Our flights have been severely rescheduled twice. Firstly giving us a whole day to sit in Gatwick coming home off our overnight flight before boarding a flight at tea-time. Then they have changed it again to leave miami in the morning instead of early evening and then sit in Charlotte for a day and half. When I first called them I had mis-read and though it was just an extra 6 hours, but then they mentioned the overnight and I looked over the dates again and saw I'd be overnighting in Charlotte.......mmm! Would that be in the airport or what? They said I could book a hotel then try to claim it from the airline when we get back. Obviously not acceptable.
So they said we could cancel, then I booked another flight, called them back at 6pm and they said they couldn't cancel as they needed to call the airline to ask. They then said they would call me this morning once they know if we can cancel. Eek - I'll be really annoyed if they start saying we can't after saying we could then I booked another flight!
Anyway....I'll go back to my positive Vegas thoughts to cheer myself up. I'm really looking forward to just walking the strip and looking! Love it! And some shopping of course....
However within 2 weeks of getting home I was itching to go back. Went back for 7 nights in November, 11 night in May, 7 nights in November and 12 nights this May. I am desperate to go back, but can only manage once this year due to other commitments.
My mistake in May 2006 was not having an outline plan of what to do, where to eat and which shows to see. I've found it much more enjoyable now that I write up a planner even though we don't stick to it rigidly.
The plan is, God willing, to go back for 12 nights next May.
Hubby has a big birthday next month and had said he wanted to go to Vegas for it. I stupidly put him off saying that we went there anyway and he should do something different so we booked a cruise. Much as I enjoy cruising, it's not a patch on Vegas.

We really enjoyed visiting Red Rock Canyon and the Valley of Fire last September but there is not enough there to hold the attention for any longer than a few hours, maybe somewhere further afield like Zion National Park in Utah or even Grand Canyon National Park would be better but then you have to seriously think about staying overnight.
I am looking forward to seeing if the way we feel now is purely down to jadedness from the travelling, whether it was purely a Vegas thing or if it stretches further to being an America thing, I mean we have visited the country about 20 times in ten years so it could be that it has run it's course for the time being. As Lesley pointed out, time will tell.
For everybody with holidays planned, whether it be Vegas or somewhere else in the USA, enjoy!!
Ju
I think you're right, that for any holiday you need to have 'something to do' otherwise any holiday can seem almost tedious at times. As I've said many times before, because we treat Vegas like a beach holiday during the day, we never get bored, it's about getting a lovely tan so we feel really good when we get home, enjoy lazing about round the pool with a few cocktails, I normally get through 4 or 5 books in two weeks We also plan a few days out, so this year we will hire a car for probably three days and in that time we will go to the Valley of Fire (not been yet), Back to Lake Mead for some Jet Skiing, Shopping at the outlets and maybe a drive to Primm, we've also marked out a night for driving to Austins Steakhouse at the Texas Station casino, I keep hearing it does fantastic steaks and it will be nice to eat off strip for a change.
We have three shows lined up at the moment, 'Mamma Mia', 'Bite' and The Bangles in concert! (missus chose that one ), and we'll probably go and see Legends this time too so we should be busy!
Lesley - Wow, just a week for you to go, I'm jealous! We have a whole 17 days to wait yet! I have had a lot of trouble sleeping recently (I work shifts) so am really tired so I really NEED this holiday let alone want it! Can't wait and feel more excited than the last few years to be honest.
I'd forget about your hassle with the cruise for now and just enjoy Vegas - you don't want anything on your mind to affect that.
Cheers,
TC
Well, I'm getting excited every now and again. For some reason I feel more excited this year - don't know if it's because we went last June so it's been 15 months!
I even sorted out our slot club cards tonight...got them all organised now. Funny the ones we have picked up in strange casino's probably for $10 free slot play!
Got the cruise flights sorted hopefully, although they haven't yet confirmed it in writing which I would like to see (or the cash back in my account).
Really enjoying reading the trip reports meanwhile to get excited.
Just had another though...looking forward to looking through the coupons books and cutting out the coupons when we're there. I have two American Casino Guides which are great for when out in the hire car and near the unusual buffets - like Red Rock and Silverton which are two I quite like. Another food plan this trip is to go to Nora's for my birthday. Might have to be an early one so that we can be back in time for the quiz in McMullan's (staying at Orleans at that time).
Tee Cee - what was you final plan - is it just Signature then - did you cancel Terribles? The deals are pretty good this year - I even got a $40 weekend email from the Orleans but I don't know if they will match one night's rate - the other nights are more expensive.
Yup, cancelled Terribles, will spend the entire two weeks at the Signature which I'm really looking forward to. Booking through Luxury suites international saved us $1000 on what the MGM Signature were asking for. Mind you, I'm still going to call the Signature next week to make sure they have a reservation for us!!
Cheers,
TC
I must admit that I did think of you and your comments regarding the Signature pool as we went past on the monorail and saw the difference in crowds compared to the MGM pool area. I must have counted about 10 sun loungers in use, and about 4 bodies frolicing in the pool, a total contrast to the mass poolfest next door.
I would definitely consider the Signature next time, along with the Venetian, Planet Hollywood and possibly Mandalay Bay.
Definitely check up on your reservation with the Signature, there was a thread on TA just before we went away regarding management of suites at the Signature.
Ju
Yeah I think there were some questions asked around a company called 'Signature Vacations'.
I've spoken to Luxury Suites Intl, who I am booked with and they re-iterated that all was confirmed and ok so all I can do is wait and see!
Cheers,
TC
