I bought a pair of reactolite varifocals with a Hugo Boss designer frame for £120 from a shop in Calangute.
Shame they started to fall apart pretty soon after so I have had little wear out of them, it will be interesting to see what they have to say when I take them back 18 months later.
Next time I'll wait til there is a B.O.G.O.F. at Specsavers. Much easier if anything goes wrong.

I was told by the optician in Boots not to get reactorlight glasses for reading in the sun but to go for proper prescription sunglasses as the reactor ones are not strong enough in sunlight.
Just a thought.

iwas told in Specsavers they wouldn't go dark enough in temperatures as high as Goa!

I have used my reactor light ones for 10 years in Goa and had no problems. I ususally wear contact lenses but stick to my glasses for daytime in Goa. I think the opticians in this country tell you these things to make you spend more money. D&A and Boots wouldn't give me a separate prescription for my contact lenses because I wouldn't sign up to paying £29 per month for check ups. I have worn contact lenses for 40 years and had no problems so don't see why I should have now. I have no problem buying lenses in Goa and they are fine and at a price for the year at less than £29 per month so saving an awful lot of money.

My sister used to buy monthly ones but was told in Goa it was cheaper for her to have yearly ones and she has been fine with these. I will ask her what she used to pay and let you know tomorrow.

Benliz Thanks very much, i wonder why they told me here in the uk the monthly ones were better, who knows. look forward to hearing from you :cheers Gel

The optician in Boots was not telling me about prescription sun glasses for their benefit but for mine. I told her that I spent most of my year in sunshine and she said explained the difference between reactors and proper sunglasses - which ever way she knew I was not going to buy any and that I was getting my prescription for free. She just gave me the advice of her knowledge and I took it.
I have worn reactors in Goa - for months at a time - for a few years now - and am fed up with waiting for them to clear when I go into dark shops like Luma etc so have invested in clear glasses and sunglasses and can change them as I want.

GEL my sister cannot remember how much she paid for her monthly lenses but said it wasn't much, she did get them in Kerala though and glasses and lenses and cheaper still there.

I did try having prescription sunglasses and normal glasses when I went to Egypt about 6/7 years ago but found it a pain in the neck having to keep changing my glasses over and carrying around another pair of glasses when I was sightseeing and juggling the camera and camcorder as well. I don't find I have a problem with seeing again when I go back inside from outside. I have been going to hot, sunny countries for over 40 years and don't find it affects my eyes or I have a problem with my glasses, but I suppose we are all different, we have to do what we think is best for ourselves.
