HI ALL.
Just trying to get opions on the" dancing waiters" thing that seems to be popular with many people that go to Turkey.??
I have to say that this is not what attracts my family to Turkey in any way!!!! ..
I am also aware for many people it is ACE
Just want to know what people think .......thats all.
CHEERS
GINK
i agree, not so good when you have been going for years, same dances everywhare.. country road is the worst.. all those serviettes waving, oh no..and then its the TINA TURNER show or the BREAK DANCERS, great for the first few times you go but not so good when its everynight, there are lots of places that dont have dancing waiters we find them much better, and we do feel sorry for the bar lads.. they have been up since dawn served breakfast lunch and dinner and then they have to turn in to tina turner, and dance there hearts out till midnight.. then back to serving drinks untill the last man,s standing,, and all for about 70 pence an hr..
But must admit we have got a bit fed up with it over the years, although the grand kids still love all the goings on, so we go to Dalyan and they go to Icmeller and we get to have time on our own....but we still miss them even though they are grown up now.
It's all good fun but we have spent so much time in Turkey we don't do any of the gimicky, touristy things anymore - but if people enjoy it that's great. It is also easy to avoid the kind of plaes that do these show things if you just want a quiet drink though.
that's the fun of turkey where else would you get hunky dancers and a good laugh at the same time
We found it quite embarassing watching young girls and women of all age groups up on bars,
i think this has reflected on the kind of publicity turkey gets for all the love rats , its not just the bar men . Yes i agree people are on holiday and there to enjoy themselves and nothing wrong with having a good time .
So for me its a no no but for all of you that like it then "when in rome "
been there , done that
not anymore thanks.
but........... each to their own, live and let live
I would just like to point out that they only place I saw dancing watiers was in Marmaris...sat accross the street from some bar and watched the different get ups and goings on..it was more fun to people watch than the act its self..in now other place that I have visited in Turkey have I seen that before..
We have been going to Turkey for many many years and must say now it does get a bit boring. However, when we have family holidays our 2 grandaughters age 10 and 13 think its great so we do have an occasional night where we watch the lads dancing (not every night tho). It is all good fun.
i have to agree with lindy, we definitely avoid places like this, its not for us, but if people want to do that on holiday thats their choice !!!
one of the best i seen last september was the robot show which is abit different from the normal shows.
Seen some really good ones in Calis and Kusadasi in the Karavansary, a real art.
In short, sick to death of seeing them now after visiting Turkey for many years I find all that kind of thing oh soooo blooming boring and quite embarrassing
I agree Joan, I love proper belly dancing but I really hate all the stuff they do getting the men on the flor and all that sleazy stuff. It wuld also be nice to see godd Turkish belly dancers rather than all the skinny Russian girls they have in resorts, who basically just wiggle around
