My daughter has recently returned from a holiday in Gumbet. She bought a lot of jewellery in Ocean Jewellers in Gumbet. It would seem that she has had a good deal as she has had the jewellery valued at home and it is worth quite a bit more than she paid for it.
I am currently getting a diamond ring made with them...all this is being done by e mail.
Could anybody please advise me if this jewellers and the owners have a good reputation????
I dont want to spend a lot of money to find that I have got ripped off!!!!
Has anybody had dealings with this shop either by person or by e mail???
I would really apprciate some honest answers???
They're lovely people in Ocean jewellers - we often stop by for a drink with them. We first got to know them through a Turkish friend of ours when we asked where was the best place to buy jewellery from and he took us and introduced us. We often chat to Ersan who works there on MSN.
We have a house in Gumbet (going back over there on Monday) and go regularly and have never heard a bad word about Ocean jewellers. I would (and do) buy from them in confidence.
Thank you Jackie, that has put my mind at rest.
I had the emailadress of this jewellery in Gumbet. Unfortunnely I lost it.
Can somebody send it to me?
many thanks
and if anyone wants to contact us our e-mail: ocean_jewellery@hotmail.com
He kept guaranteeing me that and said if there was any problem with the ring I could bring it back to him, even trade it at some stage for another ring. I paid my deposit and left. My aunt was in Turkey the following September and collected the ring.
When i got it, my boyfriend who knows nothing about diamonds commented about how the diamond wasn't as shiny as it seemed in the shop. Disappointed I took the ring to a jewellers in Cork city. I took it to the main jeweller of Michele Jewellers, Patrick Street Cork.
He took one look at the ring and said it wasn't worth more than I paid for, that the side stones were VS2 but the main stone was a lot duller and more of an inferior diamond. He said I would have actually gotten a better ring in Cork for my money. I was really disappointed as the diamond didn't even sparkle.
I emailed Ersan who told me bring the ring back and he would fix it. So our engagement was put off, from Christmas originally to whenever we could get the ring fixed up (my aunts were not returning again till May)
My aunt went back to Turkey in May and went to Ocean Jewellers. I emailed Ersan several times about my aunt being on the way and he did not reply. When my aunt got there Ersan gave some story about me not having enough money for the VS2 ring and that we had agreed on an inferior diamond (I would never settle for a diamond less than VS2 and my money was paid in September so it's not like I couldn't afford anything in May) He said he would change the ring gladly for a better diamond if I wanted to pay €600 for a better diamond!!!
I am now left with a ring I don't want and have never even worn, my engagement is still off until I 1. sell the first ring 2. put more money towards another ring as I am not expecting to get much for the original one. I feel very hard done by and he has broken his guarantee and promise to me. He even told me via email he would replace the ring.
All the people highly recommending him, yes, he is a nice guy, talks the sweet talk, promises you this and that but all that glistens is not gold. I suggest you get your diamonds checked out via a reputable dealer. In my case, it didn't take a scientist to figure out that the main diamond of the ring wasn't a good diamond.
