Goa isn't what it used to be. Hasn't for the last 3-4 years.

You will find places to dance but its not at all what it used to be.

All the dodgy goings on around Anjuna and the Mafia intrusion has pushed the whole drug problem to the attention of the media. Whilst not all those into Goa Trance are into the drug scene, as far as the police/govn are concerned rave/trance = drugs.

I haven't seen anything like what it was 8-10 years ago. In fact that scene seemed totally dead. It's not my thing but I did go along to a few big raves around Vagator just to see what it was all about. Let's just say that you would have thought you were in Amsterdam and not a country with the harshest drug laws in the world.

Don't know if I'm allowed to publicise another forum but there's info' on India Mike's forum... go to Goa and there's a thread where someone is looking for a party, a lot of reports on the 'club' scene... or lack of it. Google India Mike.

Summed up by someone saying 'Goa is not a place to party'. I agree... these days are long gone... Goa is now a place purely to relax.

Goa is finished as a psy trance party place, as an ex Trance Dj myself I can confirm this yes there are a few hippies still searching for Nirvana and yes there are the occasional `Goa Rave`, but if you really want Goa Raves you are better off in Thailand, that`s the truth

Yes... you could almost film a Spinal Tap style doc' but devoted to Trance/Psyc with some of the stereotypes around parts of Goa. Being old enough (just) to having been one of them from back yonder I find it all quite amusing at times.... some sights!
