...gone to The High Commission in Birmingham and picked his visas up same day
There has always been (and still is?) a 24/7 system for emergency visas for medical emergencies, berievements etc. It used to cost considerably more.
On the VFS site FAQ page there is a reference to this...
10. I have to travel to India on an emergency. Is there any extra charge for the same?
Visas are granted on holidays and after service hours in case of a genuine emergency like death or medical emergency subject to production of sufficient documentary proof. The decision of the Consular officer in this regard shall be final.

What the hell is the point in this response? It in no way answers the question and extracting a very small part of the original post and quoting it is pointless.
Did you read the full posting and actually understand it? There was no mention of an emergency was there?
This was not the point. Many of us bother to read small print on VFS/HCI like you obviously do, but that wasnt the question, was it??????????????????????????????????????????????????????
No-one had replied and I simply added what I knew of the system. Agreed it might have been a little cyptic and expecting people to read between the lines.

In future please try and be respectful in your replies to other members.
what ever your friend has done in the past or the future the system has changed this year, now if you want to follow your friends advice and send your passport with the old form then do it? but I can tell you if it is returned minus the visa you will be the first to moan, oh I should have followed the HT'ers advice and filled in the new form on line.
I don't understand you, you have to send off your passport anyway so why not make it easier for yourself and fill in the form on line, it is much the same as the old one, but please don't have a go at another HT'er he was just trying to help you...jxk8

johnny five no need to be so rude .we are all here to help each other with the visa not get greef from fellow members ......
Well said Irishcolleen.
I think that people who disrespect other H/T'ers should either be suspended from the board for a while or have their membership to the board stopped altogether.
I second that....jxk8

Well said Sydney.
I won't tolerate rudeness to members on the forums but everyone deserves a chance. Let's just leave it at that and move on for now.
I always put our son and daughter down as our uk referees, and the name of the hotel we are staying at as the India reference and NA for the other, and have never had a problem. Paula

They are not required for a tourist VISA.
