Yes it is definitely worth the upgrade to a seaview room
My family and i always go for rooms 3131 and 3132 as they have a wonderful view not only of the beach but Terhan Island aswell.Also they are perfectly placed between reception, dining and getting to the beach, they also not only have their own terrace but also a large communal one (which nobody uses!)
I cant comment on the new rooms as we have only stayed in these by choice.

Sorry to semi hijack the post, we have been to the Conrad on several occasions always with First choice. We are aware that the hotel has just been taken over and changed its name to Coral sea imperial, but we booked several month ago to return again in Sep/09. I notice on the First choice website that the hotel is still known as the Conrad but it is not available after april/may 09, does anybody know if First choice are pulling out or is there another reason? would be a shame because the hotel is nice even if its a bit tired in places, the location is good and the staff are great but most of all the diving is fantastic.

Deckchair lady,I would just book a standard room then email them and say you are celebrating your 40th birthday.They will almost certainly upgrade you ,especially if its not a busy time at the hotel.
We went in December 2005 for a special anniversary and I requested a sea view room.They gave us one but unfortunately we couldnt see the sea for the trees outside our room.They moved us up a level the next day and we had a fantastic view of the sea and the pool.I think the room was number 2308.

We e-mailed hotel about this. The reply we received is on another thread.The First Choice branch in our town new nothing about the change so we showed them a copy of the e-mail.
We go in june09 and have been assured that the only thing that is changing is the name.

Hi All,
A very similar thing happened to us this year and we had a dreadful time with a certain travel company.I was horrified to read on here about the take over, but have also e mailed the hotel who said it will not affect the hotel service but Wings travel will operate it and not the Hilton chain.
I also made several phone calls to first Choice who denied the takeover but eventually I was told that it will change to The Imperial coral sea resort but no changes at all in the hotel or our holiday booking.I did ask for this in writing from them but was told there was no reason for this and basically the girl refused!
i dO NOT want to worry people but like I said this happened this year and if my holiday changes 4 weeks before I travel I will go crazy.Where can you book a reasonably priced family holiday in August 4 weeks before travel?
