There are plenty of cash machines in Mogan, i would stick to the ones at the banks rather than ones attached to shops and restaurants. Main banks Santander (red) Banca March (green) BBVA (blue) Caja Canaria (yellow) might be worth checking with your bank which will be cheapest and to let them know your going to be using your card abroad. Might be worth bring a little bit of cash and a few T/Cs just incase of emergency too

We agree with Neil on this as they are a lot more secure and you get a better exchange rate

Yes thanks I was intending using my trusty Nationwide card which has been used in many far off places.
Just didn't want to arrive and find no ATM's, mind you they have them in the Goan countryside now so G/C shouldn't be a problem.

I am thinking of a holiday to Puerto Mogan next June/July, but I am worried that it maybe slightly to quiet.

Can anyone give me advice ie is there lots of shops/bars/restaurants? Is there many tourists? Is it a busy place?

I know it gets busy on market day, and it obvisouly isnt as lively as other resorts eg Playa Del Ingles and Puerto Rico, I dont mind that it hasnt got any clubs or discos, but some kind of nightlife would be a bonus, it doesnt have to have any entertainment for children either! Or if you can compare it to any other resorts, i am quite well traveled!

Any comments, advice or info is much appreciated and very welcome

Mogan is beautiful and an ideal place to stay if you want peace and quiet it has a good range of bars and restaurants but nothing to lively. The beach is great not to packed and if you want a day trip to rico you can always jump on the ferry round there.

Mogan is my favourite place in the whole of the canaries. it has that "cosmopolitan" feel about it. There are an abundance of little restaurants and cafe's set along a delightful little beach and harbour. It can appear busy during the day, especially on market day but it tends to go a little quieter after about 5 or 6pm. During the day, sort of between 2 and 4pm, you may find it difficult to get a taxi from there as most of the drivers appear to take a siesta.

I don't really know about how much there is for kids to do. Mine are teenagers and tend to also be in the pubs/bars/restaurants or they could toddle off to Puerto rico for some serious action! You don't say how old the children are. There is a lovely little beach with a safe sea area for the kids and a little playground type thing with the usual slides etc for the younger ones.

There is a regular bus service/taxi's and you could always nip along to taurito round the corner (also quiet but worth a look round) and then on to Puerto Rico...where there is a little bit of everything!

Hi - Could anyone help me. I really fancy going to this area next year, but a bit concerned that you may lose the sun quite early with mountains around. Having had the summer we have had this year I will be needing all the sun that I can get. Many thanks - Trish

That region of GC gets alot of year round sunshine. In fact, they say it is the hottest part of the Canary Islands.
You should not have a problem at all.

Hello, I am hoping someone can advise me. I am planning to visit GC next Feb with husband, 2 small boys and elderly mother, and we are thinking of Puerto Mogan - mainly due to wanting somewhere fairly peaceful (we don't want big nights out), and somewhere easy on the eye for my Mum! For the first time we are also wanting to go half board / AI because my Mum isn't very mobile, and she won't be up to dragging around looking for restaurants in the evening which is what we have always done on holiday before.

So my question ... I am looking at two properties - Codial Mogan Playa and the new Codial Mogan Valle apartments - both look great, but even looking at their location on Google earth, I can't work out whether we will be able to easily walk to the marina / walk to the shops and beach from the hotel / apartments. Is it fairly flat around there? My mum is determined not be be a burden, and I would like to be able to tell her a bit about the accessibility of Puerto Mogan. We will have a car for the whole week so we could drive to the harbour etc if needed.

Sorry for the ramble - it's just that this holiday will cost more than we have paid before (kids now both at school, so tied to school holidays!) and I really want it to be right. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks!

As far as I know these apartments are in the main part of the valley and this will give an easy level walk to the beach, shops, marinas etc. Onlt the old village on the west side og Puerto Mogan is hilly and would be a problem for mobility

We are looking for a quiet week away in Feb 2009 and Puerto Mogan looks like the spot. We can fly direct from Aberdeen with Globespan and I would look at booking either the hotel or apartments Cordial Mogan. I have read it is about 50 mins/ 1 hour from the airport.

I do not fancy getting a taxi from the airport (had a really bad experience with a maniac taxi driver in Tenerife) so couple of questions. Is there a bus service from the airport to Puerto Mogan? I have also read re Viajes Islas Canaries Tours who do a shuttle service for 70 euros for the two of us. Has anyone experienced this Company?

We are off to the new cordial valle apts next to the Hotel in Jan '09.
We stayed in the Hotel last year by default as the apts were not finished so we were transferred there.
We shopped around and found it was cheaper to have a package with Thomsons.
A taxi would be about 50 / 60 euros each way.
Not used the shuttle we usualy hire a car.
There is a bus from the airport.
