CAn anyone give me any info on this spot. I know it's supposed to be the 'best ' , most picturesque resort on Gran Canaria. Stayed in Playa del Ingles about 8 years ago in Feb & had a great time. My the 13 year old son was with us so our needs were different then. Now I think I wouldn't enjoy it so much as I prefer quieter scenic areas.
Any info would be much appreciated. We would be htinking of going in Feb half term break again this time.
Stayed in Maspalomas a couple of years ago (also with children) but went to Puerto Mogan for the day. It was very pretty, with quayside restuarants and there was a small black sand beach. When I returned I tried the mainstream brochures for accommodation in Mogan but it didn't feature. I think if you wished to book you would need a more specialist operator. It would be ideal for a quiet week away provided you could make your own entertainment in the evening from eating out and having a quiet drink. Also if you had a car you could get to the other resorts on the south of the Island.
Puerto Mogan is lovely, fairly quiet and quaint although over the last few years it has undergone quiet a bit of work.
You have just confirmed what I thought. Do you know anything about Hotel Cordial Mogan Playa? It's the only hotel in the Falcon brochure direct from Belfast. Looks lovely 4*. Only problem it's half board & I like to eat out at local restaurants in the evening & don't particularly want to pay for something I'm not having. Have done this too often. Why can't you have & b & B option!?
Thanks!
http://www.cordialcanarias.com It looks stunning!
Not sure if you are aware but this hotel has a website we going to discuss it tonight , but I suspect we'll be booking this tomorrow! Very glowing reports on tripadvisor.com as well. And the added bonus is that people have said you can opt for lunch or evening meal, so you don't lose out. Only problem might be the expanding waistline!
When I got up and looked round I saw the back of the man climbing over the rails at the side of the beach. When the 2 girls returned she had noticed her bag missing.
We got in touch with the beach attendant and told him what had happened and gave a description of the man.
The 2 girls were supprised to here the description as they had seen this man talking to the beach attendant earlier in the day - but he denied any of this. He did eventually get the police down but they told the girls to go to the police station in Peurto Rico to report thr theft.
Another women also near us then reported her bag and phone missing also.
The plot thickens....
On our 2nd week we returned to Mogan as my sister had joined us for the week.
We decided to have some lunch in one of the beach side cafes, and after a while noticed a man sat at the front of the restaurant (no drink or food) just a towel, staring across at the beach (scanning ?) a few times he got up walked to the beach side, looked around then sat down again - it was the same man, I recognised his shorts and shoes the wife remembers his towel.
So how do we handle this one ?.... we went to the beach attendant and told him who we had seen,'' I will sort him and hand him to the police''he said,so after hearing our description off he went (we watched from the other side of the beach on a footbridge). The attendant approached the man, they shook hands and he got up from the table and walked away - amazing !!
The way we look at it,the attendant has the freedom to move around the beach and maybe 'eye' things up and signal to the bag snatcher who then makes his move on a victim.
Later,we made a report to the police and are looking up the Mogan local council if they have one,and will inform them via e-mail.
Not a nice thing to see happening, but also foolish of people to leave things out on display - I know this could (and does) happen anywhere but just a warning to what is going on at this beach.
It still wouldn't put us off this nice resort either.
he then tells his mate (maybe by mobile ) which bags to target.
scum. you could video it and give the video to the police.
I too was witness the actions of this individual miscreant casing the joint after after he'd first been seen doing the dirty deed the week before. (Maybe not so individual as there were others involved in this.) I wish I'd got a decent photograph of him because I would have sent the shot(s) of him in for all to see.
More importantly which are the best restaurants ( not necessarily the most expensive!) best value etc?
I'd appreciate ANY recommendations. Thanks.
They do nice lunches and goegeous coffee and cake!!!! (we arent even cake people but the baileys cheese cake MMMMM) about 4euros for cake and coffee.
Not had an evening meal in PM as we stay in PR but always do a day in morgan.
only a couple of pictures to give a little idea how nice little Venice is
Puerto Mogan is my favourite place in the whole of the canary Islands...thanks for putting those pictures on to remind me of why.
I really don't feel that Mogan deserves the little Venice title for one tiny canal
I think normally there would be more canals..it's just that usually it is so hot they have dried up. I have walked across many of the little bridges and never have I seen water yet!
There are so many places to eat, lovely little italian places and generally every food type and national cuisine is catered for there. Unfortunately, I don't remember the names of any of them but you are bound to find something and somewhere.
We have been in PM 2 years ago and really loved it. We stayed in the Cordial Playa & it was half board: don't usually like this but there was no option & have to say that the food was so good we did eat there every night, even tho' we had planned to explore a few local restaurants.
This time we're renting a apartment so that we can enjoy the variety & I remember there seemed to be quite a few places..... We'll enjoy the challenge of finding our favourite!
Can't wait..............less than 48 hour to go!!
the restaurant (a la cart )at the cordial playa is in my opinion the best in mogan,it is open to the public, and the food is fantastic but not cheap.we also enjoyed going to a restaurant at the end of the harbour.it was on the left almost at the waters edge, and the seats looked like benches cant remember the name, but the food was nice here also. have a good holiday mo .
All packed & ready for the off tomorrow morning.
