Camping and Caravanning UK and Europe

Half the towns on the lake seem to have a camp site by that name, which one are you going to?

Lake Garda is in the north of Italy just south of the Alps and in easy reach of the Austria, I'd describe it as "hot enough" rather than "very hot". Proximity to the mountains means that if it gets too hot it could trigger some massive thunderstorms in the evening - and you a haven't seen a thunderstorm if you haven't seen one in the mountains! You can't be guaranteed sunbathing weather all day, every day but it's unlikely to be cool.

Hi Minty

I stayed at Camping del Garda a few years ago, so things may have changed since my visit. It was a nice large site, situated right on the lake with bungalows and an area for tents. I think there was a pool, the area was surrounded by trees. There was a cafe, a restaurant and a shop. There are a few camp grounds in the area but this one was near enough to Peschiera to be able walk into town which was nice. You can get boats from the town to places all over the lake and you are not far from Sirmione which though a bit of a tourist trap is worth a visit.
I often visit Lake Garda( it's only a few hours drive from where I live) but don't normally go to the very south of the Lake. The weather in summer can at times be very hot (30°+) but normally it's not too extreme. I'ts sometimes very hazy and often you can't see the mountains. But after experiencing one of the storms that Steve mentioned, the following day the views across the lake will be awesome.
Enjoy your trip

We stayed there two years ago, it was our first campsite holiday and we loved it. That said we went to a larger site last year (La Sirene Argeles, France) and hated it as it was too big, noisy, and we found out we hated entertainment! Del Garda by comparison was smaller, much simpler, it had 2 pools, a lovely natural feel to it. There were lots of Italians staying there at weekends in May which livened up things considerably. The restaurant on-site isn't great but the proximity to the Migloss supermarket more than made up for this - it was superb, especially the deli/bakery. Best of evening strolls into Peschiera was a short walk, through stunning landscape and scenery, to end up at the most beautiful ice cream stalls. I want to go back so badly!

Hi, We are thinking of going to thr Peschiera area next year staying at the eurocamp. What are the prices for food and drinks like in the cafes and bar. Also what are the supermarkets like? We are taking our 3 kids with us aged 3,5 and 9 and are planning on taking £600 spends. Do you consider this being enough? We will be taking alot of food with us aswell.

Many thanks for reading
