Yes I've seen those maps....very useful in getting bearings.

Yes we're certain we want to do AI, I guess that makes our choice in NB limited as most of the one's I've checked are either B&B or HB ! I've taken a look at the 2 you mentioned, The Three Corners looks good and is a good price, The Sonesta not so good as it seems very pricey. But at least I've got something to go on.

Is NB the best place to stay ? I'm ever so confused as I see many people on here like Coral Bay too but if we want to walk into Sharm central then it's just too far and I'm not sure what the hotels or beaches are like at Sharm central either ? There seems to be quite a few, is there no beach access from here ?

Thanks again for you help

Its really not that sort of coastline .Basically you have naama bay and then miles of desert type coastline and the fabulous red sea . Huge hotels with sweeping drives and every amenitie have been erected along this coastline . There is a duel carriageway (peace rd) that seperates the hotels and the desert . The earlier hotels built are mostly on the coast side with more hotels going up all the time on the other side of the duel carriageway . There isnt any promenade running between the hotels although you may find a few hotels linked by one . Looking at the map and having stayed at hilton sharks bay it would be near on impossible to walk.

Ive booked the sonesta beach resort for this easter and at the time I booked last year it was one of the cheapest . sadly it sems to have shot up in price .

your other alternative would be to look the other side of naama bay around the ras em sid area where there is old sharm town (not been but more egyptian I believe) and what looks like a shoppng centre or head further out to nabq end where there are some shops, bars and resturants.

the kirosiez may be an option if you dont mind not being right on the beach but I would check how far the walking distance is because even the sonesta is right on the outskirts and could be up to a half hours walk for the hard rock cafe etc.

maybe another option would be el gouna (flights into hurgharda) where there sounds a nice downtown area and marina . it sounds a good family resort with a nice atmosphere .there is a mixture of A/I or HB/BB there . Ive been looking at the three corners rihana that is close to downtown area.

You may get some more help if you start up another thread . there are plenty of people around that can give you lots of advice but they may not being seing in this topic. :)

We stayed at the Sunrise Island View last August/September time. Lovely hotel and would return. The hotel is in Sharks Bay and is about 20 minutes in a taxi from Naama Bay.
I liked going itno Naama Bay for a visit, but I wouldnt way to stay there its far too busy and noisy IMO.

We got back from the Sunrise Island View on Sunday evening and would definately return to this hotel. Everything about it was great - food, rooms, facilities and location. I will write a review in the next few days.

Booked a holiday to Sunrise Island Veiw, anybody know if we need to take towels and if possible to get a late check out of the hotel.

We went to the Sunrise Island View in January this year, and yes, room and pool/beach towels are provided.

Sorry but I can't help you with the late check out room, as we didn't need one.

This is a lovely hotel and you will have a great holiday. :cheers

We went to the Sunrise Island View in January this year and had a fantastic time. When are you going?

If you have any questions, I'll be happy to help if I can.

Hi Jane

I am booked to go in November this year and really looking forward to it already! Do you have any recommendations on which rooms are well situated? Would like at least a pool view, although a sea view would be better! We have a junior suite. I will be at the Hilton Sharks Bay again in June so plan to go and have a look around the Sunrise while I am there. Are they really strict about ice cream?? At the Hilton you can have as many as you want between 12 and 5 each day, and my hubby will miss this if they are restricted. Thanks!

We were in room 137 which was a junior suite and it was a lovely-very big. It looked out on to the pool with the swim up bar (which my husband was determined to try even though the water was freezing!!) and we could also see the heated pool with the slides. I think whatever room you are in will be good, as there are 4 pools in all, so you will probably have a view of least one of them! :) . Also we weren't far from the main building, so not far to walk for drinks and food etc!!!!

As far as the ice creams go, we only discovered them on our last day there :duh , but I don't think there were any restrictions. They were served near Fatima's restuarant.

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much Jane - if I think of any questions I will be back to pick your brains! It seems like you had an excellent time, and it does get good reviews generally.

Hi Jane,

I have a few questions which would be great if you could answer them...!

Does one of the pools have a bar in the water... I've always wanted to swim up to one of those bars...!!!

How many times can you use the 2 restaurants...Some people say once per stay...others say as long as you book there isn't a limit...?

Is there free ice cream all day or only at certain times?

Is there an aqua theme park with loads of slides close by..?

If you know any answers to the above question, it would be great to find out...

Thanks

Hi Will,

Yes there is a swim up bar in one of the pools and my husband was determined to use it, even though the water was absolutely freezing (we went in January)!!! :yikes

When we were there you were able to use the a la carte restuarants more than once, but that may have been because we were there out of season. We went to Fatimas and had a very nice mixed grill, but to be honest, I preferred the food from the main restuarant.

I think the ice creams were only available in the afternoons, between 2 and 5, but we only found them on our last day :(

I'm sorry by I can't help you with regard to the aqua theme park, but the hotel has 2 water slides.

Hope this information helps :)
