i am a single parent of 2 children, and looking for a holiday for 10/11 nights or 2 weeks. I am thinking of Corfu, Rhodes, Cyprus or Lanzarote.
I want somewhere that will have nice beaches, places to possibly site see (so can do more than sit on beach) somewhere that i can get boring food lol as i only ever eat things like chicken salad and chips abroad. Somewhere that is idea for children and families but somewhere not too quiet but not too busy, ideas on areas or hotels etc would be brilliant, also maybe some ideas of what day trips would be good and rough ideas of prices, know alot of questions, sorry! i am looking to go July thanks for any help and advice
also consider Kos some resorts have nice beaches..boaring food is available plenty of historic sites [especially around Kos town] take a day trip to Kefalonia and see the caves
or Crete which probably has more sights to see than any other island
if Cyprus you may do better in the Pafos region

i will look at Kos also then i wish i was more daring with food but i am just as bad at home lol but hopefully i will find my chips and salads lol
Try Arillas, Corfu. Fairly quiet, lovely beach, plenty of reasonably priced trips out, friendly, helpful people.
right i have been browsing sites to get prices on reasonable hotels, these are the ones i have to choose from:
Atlantica Oasis - Limassol
Louis Phaethon Beach Club - Paphos
Avanti Village - Paphos
Holiday Village aliathon - Paphos
Prices are: £1152 Atlantica SC 11 nights 8/7 to 19/7
£1414 Holiday Village Aliathon SC 10 nights 8/7 to 19/7
£1542 Avanti Village SC 10 nights 9/7 to 19/7
£1620 Louis Phaethon HB 11 nights 5/7 to 16/7
£1950 Louis Phaethon FB 11 nights 5/7 to 16/7
my first thought as dont know much about Cyprus, is it worth paying the extra £262 to stay in Paphos rather than Limassol? i am on a budget and most i can save by time i go on holiday includes paying for holiday and spending will be about £2300. Then if choose to go Paphos, the amount between SC, HB, and FB can i eat cheaper than the prices and stick with SC? i only will eat chicken or ham salad and chips and i have two children (8 and 9) who eat same sort of food! advice is gratefully taken, suprising how confusing it gets booking holidays when too much choice lol
I've never been to Cyprus although I've always fancied it. The main reason is that I've heard from friends and family that have been, that it is quite an expensive resort. My sister, who normally goes SC to one of the Greek islands said that her Cyprus holiday was the only time she actually ran out of money and went quite a bit over budget. Apparently, it's expensive eating out there so if you're on a budget it wouldn't be your best choice of country. Also, you'd get a much better deal on a package holiday elsewhere. Not that I want to put you off going to Cyprus, if you'd already set your mind on it, but as you're open to other suggestions I thought it might help you to minimise your list.
no i am completely open would sooner go somewhere else if i got more for my money, i think i am between corfu and cyprus and would happily go to either! found some bargains for sidari? but heard bad things about beach, about it being dirty and full of fag ends etc
IMO you'd get more for your money in Corfu but some may wish to disagree. We've been to Corfu twice - to Acharavi, years and years ago when the children were small and more recently (3 yrs ago) to Kassiopi for our 25th anniversary. We enjoyed both resorts. I can definitely recommend the island. It's so pretty and green and Greek (depending on where you go). Have you browsed the Resort reports for Corfu. There are so many resorts I haven't visited and they all have a character of their own. Have fun deciding!
If you google Roda, you will be able to check out everything there is in the village and get the advice of many others. It's a good family resort with a scattering of music bars and late-nighters - just about something for everybody. Loads of trips available from agents in the village, together with horse-riding, watersports and boat trips. There's a regular bus service into Town as well as to Sidari and Kassiopi.
