I had heard that the Henna could be dangerous but thought it was just a bit of scare mongering but
I have just come across a post on another site from a lady who had been on holiday in Goa.
After reading her post about her Husband (not a friend of a friend who knows somebody) I did a bit of research and found this

I thought it was worth sharing the info, so you can check it out if you are thinking of a henna tattoo.
As long as its henna meant for skin and not the one to die hair you should be ok. If you have sensitive skin mind you, id give it all a wide berth.
BTW couldnt access either of your links - made my puter freeze.
This is from the first link @
I heard a real horror story back in 2006 - see link below
Spot on, Feelthevibe. No such thing as "black henna".
I am not against henna tattoos - me, my son and my daughter have all had them in Goa BUT!!! I'll never forget it! My daughter has slightly sensative skin, she'd already had a small tattoo early on in the holiday but on the last day decided to have another! She had a massive palm tree on her upper arm with Goa 2003 underneath. During the flight home and the next day (when she had a very important hockey match! her arm started to itch!) very soon she had a very bad rash and started feeling light headed, the rash spread all over her and straight after the match i had to take her to casualty! She was prescribed antibiotics and had them for a few weeks. Her arm scarred and she had Goa 2003 with palm tree for about a year and a half!!! Be careful! I wouldn't advise anyone to have one done! and it wasn't particulary cheap.
I have had several black henna tattoos done on Candolim beach by Anita. I have never had a problem. I did have one done on my first day by another beach seller and it was rubbish- Use Anita she is fab!
The subject of henna tattoos and potential reaction to them has been covered extensively a number of times on programmes such as Watchdog.
