Thanks for your help Traveller & Dazbo
I havent actually booked my flight yet but will be booking in the next couple of days. I am not booking direct with Virgin Atlantic or Virgin Holidays but should I receive the reference from my tour op which is tropical sky?
Thanks
Something i picked up off the DIS is that they have shifted some flights by as little as 5 minutes but have not yet applied a new locator code for these which has locked anyone on these flights out of the system. There is a thread on the DISboards about this subject
I would say that depending on the contract they have with Virgin, the airline booking locator would be known either immediately or within a few days. You will probably have to push them into letting you know what it is. I think also that the booking may have to be "ticketed" or at least e-ticket numbers issued by the airline and added to the booking so even with a locator you might not be able to assign your seats until this is done.
Weve booked with Thomas Cook Signature, flying to Orlando from Gatwick on Good Friday. with Virgin...1245 depart on VS015
Do we have the same service as if we'd booked direct with Virgin, ie, Twighlight Check in and possibly the V room.
Thomas Cook are just the booking agent. You'll get the same level of service as all the other passengers. You won't have V room access as this is only available to Virgin Holidays customers.

Hello, have now booked our flights, how many hours would anybody advise getting to the airport before check in to stand a good chance of getting emergency exit seats? thanks.
Seating Can Be Pre Allocated Free Of Charge,
See Virgins Website
Exit Row Seats Can Be Purchased At Check In, (So Not Much Chance Of Them Giving You One Free)

Thanks, i dont mind paying for them we normally do, its just i was wondering how quick people thought they sold out on the manchester to orlando flights? & if anybody had any advice on how early to get there to have a better chance of purchasing them? thanks.
You'll probably find frequent fliers / privillidge card holders take priority and are held back in case. I wouldn't check-in especially early (recommended 3 hours prior to departure on long hauls) just to get them because the chances are remote. Worth a try though if you're determined.

Thanks darren
Hi, wonder if anyone could advise me of the type of aircraft used by Virgin on their flights from Heathrow to Miami in April. I particularly would like comments on the seat formation and a suggestion of a good seat, without having to pay for extra leg room. This is a birthday treat for my husband, and I would love it to be a comfortable flight on Virgin. Thank you to anyone who has taken the time to read this question.
It's scheduled to be Boeing 747 - but Seat Guru informs me there are 4 different seat variations used by Virgin - http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Virgin_Atlantic_Airways/information.php
So you'll need an insider or someone who is travelling to advise exact set-up.
I believe they charge for Emergency Exit Seats these days. Thus I avoid them! But it might be worth you paying for them?
Welcome onboard
Your flights are operated by Boeing 747-400. You'll find further information on our What Aircraft? and dedicated Virgin Atlantic threads. You'll find links to seating plans on V-Flyer from the What Aircraft? thread; you'll be on the LHR configuration. Seating is personal preference.
EDIT: Travelling Sam beat me to it by a second

Or Holiday Truths There are 2x seating plans for LGW/MAN based aircraft and 2x for LHR aircraft. The LHR aircraft are pretty much the same; just the location of the upper class / premium economy seats that's different. The LGW/MAN are the same apart from the location of a couple of rows of economy seats / toilets.

Today's posts now merged with Virgin Q&As topic
Would like some info regarding the aircraft, how many seats, what size of aircraft is used and seating etc
Virgin operate a fleet of:
"¢ Boeing 747-400's
+
"¢ Airbus A340-300/600's
If you have flight numbers then we should be able to tell you which type operates it. For more info, read the new what aircraft? thread and scroll down to Virgin.

VS027/8 are operated by a Boeing 747-400 (LGW/MAN suite). Refer to the What Aircraft? thread as roboa mentions for aircraft information and a link to V-Flyer; Virgin's information website (link will take you direct to seat plans).

Hi everyone, I will be getting married in Jamaica at Christmas, I will be flying premium economy and my seat is on the top deck. Does anyone know if I will be able to take my wedding dress on board with me and ask the cabin crew to hang it up for me in the closet.
Congratulations on your wedding. You'll find information on wedding dresses on Virgin's website.

Thank you to all who kindly gave valuable information about my Virgin flight to Miami. Such a font on knowledge, will keep logging on to get all the updated information etc. Thanks where would be without such helpful websites like this.
Congratulations! I got married in Orlando & took my dress on board too. Unfortunately, they won't allow your wedding dress to be hung up as it's not allowed. However, you are able to have it in a box & take that on as hand luggage.
I used the empty box company as their travel boxes comply with airline hand luggage restriction sizes, even the Maxi size one that I used Plus I didn't feel comfortable having it in a suitcase placed in the hold (just in case it went to a different destination!)
They were able to store mine in the Upper Class closet, although I'm sure you'd be able to put yours in the overhead locker if you want it near you. They also placed a 'fragile' sticker on it when I checked in.
Hope this helps,
Ang
