Hi, going to Thailand next mont for the first time. What's the average cost of a beer drinks etc..Also eating out at a mid range restaurant. We live in Goa so i know it will be more expensice than here.
Thanks
John
Chang, Singa, Cobra and Tiger are the norm, but Guinness,Tetley, German beers and lot of beers from around the world available at a price.
Sorry if you are a Kings/Kingfisher fan, but it's probably the worst beer in the world
Street food often less than Goa. Mid range restaurants, similar, but up to double what you would pay in Goa.
Overall, i find a two week stay as a tourist in either place, the basic expense works out roughly the same, which gives good value in Thailand, considering the great quality difference in hotels and amenities.
Of course you can row the boat out in BK, and go thro cash like a man with no arms.
Enjoy mate, so similar yet so different.
Cheers for the information,it's just a quick visit to get a feel of the place.3 nights in Phuket then 3 nights in Bangkok.
We probably spent about £50 a day for the two of us and that would include getting around and any entrance fees. Shopping of course is on top of that. We would spend less than that outwith Bangkok. Of course- the exchange rate was a good bit better than it is now.
just back from bangkok and phuket average bar cost 80 baht for bottle of thai beer(not fantastic quality) around £1.60ish so i say much dearer than goa. we drank pints of guiness between £4 to £5 a pint and coctails averaging £3. thought food was similar prices if not cheaper. great convieniance shops 7/11 and family mart open 24 hours and every few yards sell all drinks, packet sandwhiches, pies, pizzas really clean and cheap.
I'm a diet coke addict
Just back from Thailand and can tell you that diet coke is about 30/35 baht in a normal bar, but only 14 baht a can in the 7-11! As you can probably tell, I'm an addict myself
Living in Goa you will find such a difference, they do not "grow" rubbish in fields in Thailand, they have pavements and their supermarkets are heaven - no Newton rip offs there.
The only problem I have with Thailand is there is not much choice for me as a veggie but other than that I know where I will be spending my cash next year.

Just got back, and we found the price of drinks etc a lot higher than here in Goa.Food was about the same price, but we both found the food pretty bland, and nowhere near as good as other countries we have visited.
I also eat Thai food but I am careful where from but a good meal can be as little as 50baht (1 pound English)
This place is a good base and I stay here eevery year, you can google as I dont think I can add thier website, Canterbury Tales Cafe Pattaya.
hi lived in koh samui for 13mths and returned to uk 3yrs ago the baht then was 74 to £, we returned last october and the baht was as low as 59 to £ this makes a lot of difference, beers, food hadnt gone up a lot,but the exchange had gone down a lot so i suppose its all down to the currency you are changing,,we paid on average 65b for a singha beer 40b for pad thai,, a decent room is aprox 800b a night you can get cheaper but dont expect any home comforts
