Upgrade to All Inclusive when you get here. You cant beat it price wise with a family. There are no if's or but's with a family its the only way to go.

my tip would be if your not upgrading to fill your suit cases with chocolate biscuits crisps bacon cheese ham cup a soups noodles tbags coffee just things you can snack on for the day time we went christmas to costa teguise and the supermarkets were so expensive for this type of stuff because of the euro.i was so pleased i took plenty of stuff with us we would go and buy frsh bagettes and have them in the daytime too expensive to eat out for the 4 of us so we just done it in the evening.we ate at la provence alot really good meals in there and they give you plenty for the 2 of us it came to about 32 euros that was only with one drink each sometimes we had the chinese buffet for 750 euros cant remember the name of that just take as much as you can with you or upgrade when you get there to ai but check the food is ok first.when we was out for one magners and a vodka and coke it was 11 euros just work out what suits your budget i dont mind cooking in the day but i like to eat out on an evening

Thanks to you both for your replies ;)

I've looked to see what it costs to upgrade but can't find it anywhere. I will email the hotel direct. Thanks. :)

Upgrade on a arrival in the hotel direct as it is always cheaper and they have sometimes have offer. But AI is the only way to go with a family or they will snack you into another mortgage and thats before regular meals.

Definately upgrade at hotel on arrival. we did it last year and saved a packet with the deal on offer. Hope you have a good holiday.

i can understand why families want to 'upgrade' to AL but the standard of food is not always that good, and what about all the business in the resort trying to make a living? there are some really nice good value restaurants in costa teguise and going all inc means missing out on this,i would go down the route of taking as much snacky things and then experiencing the real resort at night and not cooped up like sheep in the hotel restaurant! just my opinion, but tried AL i and hated it. plus lots of people are moaning that the resorts are quiet? not surprised if everyone is staying in their hotels! sorry to rant but lanzarote has much more to offer than cheap all inclusive.

please dont go ai give the local bars/restraunts some trade as a regular visitor to ct i no what damage ai is doing to these it wont be long now till theres no bars left because of AI. rant over

i also agree about not going ai we always eat out in costa tequise and have never had a bad meal anywere there are some pretty good bars and restraunts and as the island is quiet i think we all need to do our bit to help the bars and restraunts out so self catering all the time for us :clap

I agree about eating out in any resort, but you have to understand that many people have a few children and buying drinks and snacks for them can be very expensive no matter what you say. Thats before you feed them.

I think it is nice to eat out in different palces every night but we must be realistic and accept that many people are coming on holidays on a tight budget this year and some are very lucky to be coming at all. You must respect people's need to keep a handle on expenses and know exactly what their costs are before they go.

Its great to see every single person coming this year and they are very welcome no matter what kind of catering option they take.

It is noble to eat out for the economy of anywhere but generosity has to start with the economic survival of everyone's own family and their way of getting through this recession and having a holiday at the same time.

I'm grateful for all your posts. All very handy. However I'm afraid I have to agree with Rosa, this is our first hol abroad as a family and we have saved hard for it. We want to enjoy it and ensure our children have a very memorable holiday but we have to watch the spending! I'm afraid the option for us will be the best value that will ensure the children have a brilliant holiday. I agree with supporting local businesses but for us that will depend on the cost. Think the credit crunch affects us all really! :(
