Hi,
I am in the process of booking a villa in pollensa, however we will be arriving on the 11th April in the evening and with it being easter sunday the next day, I am presuming we will have to try and get all our provisions on the saturday after we land, if we can find a supermarket open. Can anyone tell me if there are any big supermarkets that will be open late at night? the flight lands at 8.30pm, and I hope to be out by 9pm, but we then have to collect the car, anywhere along the way from the airport to our villa is fine by us.
Thanks
Most of the supermarkets are open until 21.00 hours on saturday, but it is then Easternight and then they will close earlier...
Oh dear, looks like I will have to scrap the villa idea then. we are fine to live off takeaways the day we land, but we will need stuff for Sunday.
come to think of it, what is the closest one from the airport, we can stop off along the way rather than waiting till we get to pollensa
I check it out with a friend of my who lives on Mallorca. I´ll let you know.
thanks peter
I think you may find it difficult. You may be a bit optimistic with the times. It depends but it can take a while with some hire-car firms. Be aware that usually cars come with little or no fuel, so you have to fill it up. I'm not sure if the Repsol station by the airport will be open. I think it maybe 24 hours, but that may be your first priority. If you find a petrol station, most of them have some provisions - basics anyway - which could solve the supermarket problem until the Sunday. Chances are that the main supermakets will all be closed on Easter Sunday, but it will be the market in Pollensa on where you can get fresh stuff. There is also small supermarket, which used to be the BIP opposite the Sant Domingo cloister. It's now? Begins with an S. That place may be open. As for anywhere en route from Palma, the Al Campo hypermarket - for example - would surely have closed by the time you're on your way.
I am happy to hold out till the Sunday as we will more than likely be picking up whatever we can to snack on along the way and as you said, we could pick up some bits and peices in the petrol sation, and according to the Carrefour website it should be open on Easter sunday, but if nothing re-opens till Monday then I will book a hotel instead. As going without any proper food from Saturday night till Monday morning with 2 kids is a bit too long.
Oh the joys! Lol
I just heard that the SYP supermarket will be open until 21.00 hours on saturday evening. On Easter the supermarkets will be closed. On Eastermonday they will be open a few hours during the day.
Have a nive holiday
Regards. Peter
Thanks
Hoxtonbabe, I have to disappoint you, but just heard that the supermarkets are closed on friday, saturday, sunday and monday.... Maybe some small shops/supermercado´s in for example Cala Ratjada, Pollenca are open, but I am not sure about that...
I have bben told by someone who lives out there the same thing but said the smaller shops wll be open, apparently ther is one nest to hotel diana which will be open, I am sure we can get enough stuff to last us till Tuesday.
I didnt think the Monday was a bank holiday for them??
Yes, Eastermonday is a sunday in Spain, same as in Holland, where I live.
