I've been to Benidorm and wandered round the old town area many times, but when I hear people talk about 'walking street' I don't know where it is

If you've been in the Old Town, then it is more than likely you have been on the Walking Street without realising. It is the main pedestrianised area which runs through the Old Town, it's correct name is Passeig de la Carretera.
It starts at the junction of Avenida de Martinos Alejos and Avenida Ruzafa, and continues through the Old Town to Parque de Elche and the start of the Poniente Beach. You will see it on our Benidorm Old Town Map.
