we stayed there last september/october and had a great time. We hardly ate out as we just took full advantage of our all inclusive package but we did have a few naughty mcdonalds which ovb isnt very mexicoey! Go to senor frogs its amazing you can get a cocktail in a yard and keep the yard cup and its very cheap Theres a senor frogs in the town which is about 10mins from the HV by taxi and theres also playa del carmen which is good for shops and theres a few restaurants there, you wil need to get the ferry from the town which isnt badly priced.

I like to eat at Pancho's backyard, lots of little courtyards to dine in and the staff wear traditional dress, Mariachi band plays, good food. Nice.

I don't know what age you are- If you are 18-30 and want a VERY rowdy fun time (Conga dancing, belly shots) go to Senor Frog's or Carlos and Charlies- one is upstairs, one down. It's on the main road in town.
There is also a nice Margaritaville (Jimmy Buffet) restaurant/bar downtown, it has a nice outside bar with waves crashing over the rocks below, they have great atmosphere, lots of Jimmy Buffett music and really good frozen Margaritas.
