My apologies for misunderstanding your comment "rather than someone who wants me to rent their apartment" which to me sounded like you didn't trust what you have been told. As you have had good experiences in the past I'm sure this one will be equally as good

We have the opportunity to rent a villa in Guardamar, the in-laws want to tag along but don't like DIY holidays. I've searched the major tour operators but can't find anybody doing package holidays to this area. Does anybody know of any tour operators with holidays in this area?

Hi, Off the top of my head I don't think any of the major players do package holidays here as it is not that kind of holiday resort. I reckon the closes would be Benidorm but that is a good hour away. Tell your in-laws DIY holidays are just as good if not better than package - at least you are free to do your own thing! We are of to Javea this year on DIY and can't wait!

OK, thanks Sonias. I should be able to talk them into DIY with the possibility of them staying in a hotel in Torrevieja, it looks a big enough place so assume it will have hotels etc... I just need to find a few and get in contact. I have asked the people we will rent off as they have friends that live locally so fingers crossed. have a good holiday! Cheers Steve

Have the chance of a really nice apartment in Guardamar for 2 weeks in June. Would like some advice on the area. We wont be taking a car so will probably be spending most if not all our time in the resort. Basically looking for somewhere that's in a nice area with at least a good selection of nice restaurants and some bars we can sit in at night. Have 2 small boys so nothing too lively but I don't want to go somewhere that's dead with everything closed by 9. I would also like somewhere with a bit of an atmosphere. I went away to somewhere at Christmas and it was dead. Think this was due to all the people being residents to the area so not much going on during the day or night.

The beaches look great so thats a big attraction, just a bit worried about the rest of the resort.

Any advice would be appreciated.
