Last year my wife and myself stayed in Playa del Carmen and we went on the pub crawl to Cancun (I'm in my mid fifties and my wife is in her forties).
We weren't really sure if it was really our scene, but had an absolute fantastic time,we started in the Irish pub, Pat O' Briens then onto Carlos n Charlies, then Daddy Rock's and ended up in Coco Bongos.
If you want to get a better of idea of what Coco Bongos is like there are plenty of clips on you tube if you do a search, and believe me if you think those clips look good then wait till you try the real thing its amazing!

They also have a web site http://www.cocobongo.com.mx

Can't remember exactly what time we got to Coco Bongos but think it was somewhere around midnight, we were there for about 2 hours and wanted to stay a lot longer but had to get back on the mini-bus back to Playa

This year we have booked to return to Mexico at the end of May (Swine Flu permitting) there is now a new Coco Bongo in Playa del Carmen which is 5 minutes away from where we will be staying.

Admission to the club is about $50 US which some people may say is expensive, but that includes drinks in my opinion it's one .

I would certainly suggest giving it a try

We booked with First Choice to do the "pub crawl" which included a drink in Pat O' Briens then onto Carlos n Charlies (where you get drinks in a massive Yard glass), then Daddy Rock's and ended up in Coco Bongos. My husband put a $1 tip in the box in Daddy Rocks cos the barman was showing off with the bottles throwing them in the air etc. BIG mistake - next minute we had free shots of this, free shots of that, every time we turned round and looked back - there was another drink waiting for us. Hehe, needless to say by the time we got to Coco Bongo's I was far gone. It was a great night though, sounds a bit pricey but all of your drinks are included - I cant remember exaclty how much we paid it with First Choice. We had to make our way to Pat O'Briens and make our way home to the hotel but that doesnt cost much. I'm not into wild clubbing either but you have to give it a go, the show they put on in Coco Bongo's is brilliant. We had Elvis and Madonna I'm sure (like I said, I was far gone by this time) but I do remember that Spiderman came out and climed along a tightrope thingy. It really was good. I even got my photo taken with a dwarf dressed as Beetlejuice. However, my husband did lose our digital camera in the place and it was never to be seen again. We went along the next day to see if it had been found or handed in but no such luck. It was really busy the night we were in and someone has probably gone off with it. But the staff were so helpful the next day when we went along to ask if it had been handed in, they took our hotel details and even phoned the following day to say they had spoken to all their staff on the night and no-one handed it in.

Never done the pirate ship night but that looked good too. Get saving and you can go on both lol ;)
