Re Dalaman/ turkish airports in general:
We flew from Bodrum airport last year & I was amazed by the rip-off prices.
We're for Dalaman this year, so i suppose it didn't put me off that much BUT are the Turkish airport authorities not shooting themselves in the foot with these prices as we didn't buy anything & waited for food & drink on the plane? ( and intend to do the same this year!)
We never buy anything and last October when we were leaving Dalaman there was no one eating at the fast food places.
Take your own food ,but unfortunately we are at the mercy of the airport now for drinks as you can no longer take water through security.
I think this is a good move, bringing them into line with European airports but its the prices they charge that gets people annoyed.
Just checked the roasties and put the yorkshire pud in and realised I only have to do that 7 more times until we go!
Went to Olu deniz few years ago and liked it as well but inly hotels there and need apartment really!!
Any advice on where to stay and apartment ideas please???????
We like decent pool and hotel based entertainment many thanks 2 u all!!!
All Turkish Airports are very expensive. We live here in Antalya and have been to many of the airports here in Turkey but all are the same.If you have a PrÃâ€ΕΎÃ‚±ority Pass Card this will allow you to go into the private lounges and all food and booze is free.
Thanks for your reply Ian, I will make sure we get sandwiches sorted for our return journey. Absolutely refuse to pay those crazy prices. Was ripped off first time I visited Dalaman but vowed never again!
Staying in Ovacik in August (Gondol apartments) - parents and sister are staying in Hisaronu for our second week (Nicholas Park area). How long will it take us to walk up to them (or ride in the Dolmus bus)?
I am taking 2 of my grandsons to Icmelar on 22nd of May staying at the Hotel L'Etoille.
2 years ago we were eaten by mosquitos when we stayed at Lykia World although it was October
and rained a lot.
Does anyone know if Icmelar has problems with mozzies at this time of year.
We are all looking foreward to our holiday its over 15 years since i've been to Icmelar so I
expect it will have changed a bit.
Thanks Chris
There are mozzies in Icmeler just as there are in most places, but I'm a magnet for the little horrors, and I must say that I haven't found them that much of a problem. I found Spain, especially the Costa del Sol, far far worse - I got so badly bitten there that I've still got the scars to prove it!
water and drinks are allowed in dalaman we returned from there early this morning ,,read the post about no drinks allowed and didnt take any ,,only to find that this wasnt the case .. everyone had drinks ..i had to buy mine inside

Thanks for the info it's as I thought.
Have just finished packing have got an anti mozzie plug in for the room and
some spray for the boys before we go out at night so hope to be ok.
Had no trouble in Alcudia last August.
Chris
Chris, if your grandsons are little you can get mozzie repellent bracelets from Mothercare or Boots, which may be better than sprays. Obvioulsy not a good idea if they are teenagers though Lemon cologne is also good for keeping mozzies away and it smells nice too.
