I saw an interview this morning with people who had decided to finish their holiday in Mexico. They said they felt they were perfectly safe by the pool and in the hotel, the problem would be on the plane if at all. I think they are probably right, but don't know that I would take the chance, I would rather fall ill here than there!

Considering the couple from Scotland have been talking about it to the media it doesn't seem, for them at least, to be a particularly virulent strain of flu otherwise surely they would be out of action and really not well enough to give statement to the newspapers and TV for at least a couple of weeks.

Could this mean if there is a major outbreak of swine flu in the usa, the border get shut of, not just to mexico, but all other countries
Personaly I think, swine flu will die down in the next couple of weeks, but will return in the winter, and hit us with worst symptoms
I think the fact that the Scottish couple got in touch with Max Clifford to sell their story is absolutely shocking. Must be giving away my age but surely they should be thankful that they are alive and not looking for money. The Scottish papers all had their "exclusive" stories today. Maybe off topic, if so ,sorry.
I did read in Cyprus mail the other day that they're going to start doing health checks at Larnaca airport so who knows if its on its way here.. =/

There are some interesting links here with regards to flying and swine flu.
I have to admit I was very disappointed this year that we had to book a UK holiday due to ongoing treatment for another condition and getting travel insurance, but I'm quite glad now.
I have had really bad flu symptoms since last tuesday, dreaded body ache tuesday wednesday, fever, then that went now my nose is like a tap, sneezing etc, phoned nhs direct and they said if I hadnt been near anyone from mexico then I ahave normal flu bug, but really I dont know if I have been near anyone, we were in a tapas bar in manchester, and there are loads of spanish/mexican people that serve in there, still feel like **** and its sunday, but I cant go docs if it is swine flu...hope its not, mind you my collegue at work constantly has flu, and I always get it of her, nurse that called me back said no one should be in work with any amount of flu/colds, I work with lots of customers, so a bit concerned, my boss still didnt send me home, last week.
but really I dont know if I have been near anyone,
Well, that's just the problem isn't it. How does anyone know who they've been near apart from the obvious if you've just come back from Mexico.
Hope you feel better soon Kazza.
One of the worst things to catch germs from is apparently shopping trolley handles!!! Take some dettol wipes and just give it a once over - how do you know who's just coughed sneezed and then started to re-push the trolley!! Not that I'm over paranoid or anything!
Just go to think on your toes with common sense
I don't know whether to clean the trolly handles or not as I thought that picking up things like that actually help your defence later in life? It's why a lot of people don't wash their fruit from the supermarket! Something about small doses actually build up your resistance!
Plus the reason I wash my fruit veg etc is down to pesticides etc and who knows where they have been stored with whatever running over it (rats etc).
I would rather try and take preventative action if possible.
