I have booked to go to the Santa Susanna Hotel in 2 weeks, but am now regretting it after reading a lot of the reviews. Alpha Rooms can swap me to the Hotel Palas Pineda or Hotel Amailka in Calella or Hotel Sorra d'or in Malgrat? Anyone got any advice????
I am travelling with my mother (65), and my 2 children both age 11. Really dont want to go to a "chav city", so any suggestions please???
I assume if you are booked for Santa Susanna then you are landing at Gerona??
The Hotel Palas Pineda is located in La Pineda which is not the same resort as Pineda. La Pineda which is located next to Salou is about 15 minutes from Reus Airport but about 2.5 hours away from Gerona, therefore if you are landing at Gerona the transfer to La Pineda may be to long for you with the kids in tow!
Pineda is a resort close to Santa Susanna so I'm wondering if Alpharooms are getting La Pineda and Pineda mixed up
If you do decide to go to La Pineda then no its not Chav city, Salou I guess could be classed as more Chavvy but I like Salou but not keen on Chavs so it can't be that bad
Palas Pineda is a very nice hotel although I have heard moans that the food is not geared towards British tastes. Terrible isn't it, A Spanish hotel and they don't serve English food In all seriousness though, if you have kids I guess that might be a problem.
Hope this is of some help?
Cheers

We are landing at Barcelona El Prat with Easyjet, so La Pineda is about equal distance away to Santa Susanna, just seem to be in the opposite direction - but hoping they are both accessible by train.
Spanish food really doesnt bother me - the kids aren't that fussy, what I dont really want is a hotel resembling Butlins or Haven Holidays in the UK, just nice accommocation and other British children for the kids to make friends with - then I will end up having a relaxing holiday too.
No, the Palas Pineda does not resemble a holiday camp so no problems there.
The other plus point for La Pineda compared to the other resorts you have been offered is that the beach is fine sand and shelves gently into the sea. Santa Susanna / Calella & Malgrat all have steeply shelving waters and course sand beaches. La Pineda is also home to the Aquopolis water park.
There is no old town to speak of in La Pineda, its quite a modern resort but if you do crave a bit of culture then Tarragona is 5 miles away and easily accessable on local buses, its a bustling Roman city.
Here is a link to the Palas Pineda website:-

Whatever you decide, I hope you have an enjoyable holiday.
