Hi All,
I finally got round to booking a holiday today for a week in a villa in Gale. We are heading out there on the 13th of June for 7 days.
I have stayed in Gale before about 4 years ago but that was in April and it was a bit quiet with a lot of the restaurants were just opening for the season.
So can anyone recommend places to see locally? There will be 4 adults and our 2yr old son so we won't really be going out much in the evenings looking for clubs.
Last time were there I remember there was a nice walk along the coast to the next town along. Also on our last night we found this lovely little Italian restaurant run by british expats which was down a country road (we had a few drinks so our memory is foggy), does anyone know what restaurant I am talking about?
there are many restaurants in and around Gale, they will all be open, but I am struggling to think of a country road in Gale it is all main roads with side roads off them to all the Villas etc, where abouts in Gale are you staying ?.
I have just had a look at freemaps and QUINTA DA SAUDADE RESTAURANTE looks like the place we are thinking off but I don't remember it being a complex which that one seems to be. The restaurant was over that way so it must have been that one.
Last time we stayed in Gale we were in a villa down the road behind the KARAHI INDIAN RESTAURANT.
quinta da saudade is down a country lane where there is a horse riding facility, but it is in Vale de Parra, if you carry on past there to the next roundabout and turn right into the village of Pera there is an Italian restaurant there run by a couple but I can't remember their names or that of the restaurant, although there is a very good snack bar there called Pastalaria Opcao, small beer 80cents pasties de nata 70cents and other reasonable priced food and drink, bacardi and coke 1euro20cents family owned by Viktor and his wife very popular with the locals.the sand sculptures are a really worth a visit but go at night when everything is lit up.
The Italian restaurant in Pera old town is called O Cantinho dos Italianos but it's in a little street, not a country road, and is run by an Italian family. You might be thinking of Prima Pasta in Vale de Parra but again it's not on a country road. I think it might be run by expats. Both excellent places to eat!
