I have spent the last few days searching the internet for a nice log cabin 'hideaway' to book in Wales but haven't had much luck finding one near some water.
Surely there must be some which meet these criteria out there? Can anyone make some recommendations? I have a feel such places are found out about moreso by word-of-mouth than through an internet search.

I know of one I used to go past quite a lot, it's in Shropshire about 10 minutes to the Welsh border. It's in the Hoseasons brochure/website under Hopton Heath.
I was hoping for something perhaps a little more secluded, such as this:
w_w_w.fishinghideaway.co.uk/index.htm (sorry, can't post a embedded link since I don't have enough posts.Please replace the w_w_w with www, but i'm sure you spotted my work around )
