Hi there
Quick question i wonder if someone can shed some info on. We are due to fly LHR - LAX - HON in a few weeks time (Virgin and then Hawaiian) and having not done a journey before with two legs i wondered what the likely procedure would be regarding transferring (us and our luggage). We are only in LAX for a few hours and will not be leaving the airport. Will our checked baggage be transferred to our Hawaiian flight or will we have to reclaim it and then check it in again with Hawaiian? Likewise, will we have to do passport control/customs and then check in again or do we just transfer to the relevant terminal for our onward journey?
We are not expereinced long haul flyers as i am sure you can tell and what with tiredness from the flight we are anxious to avoid confusion and uncertainty at the time - it wouldnt be a great way to start our honeymoon!!
Any help you can give would be much appreciated.
Thanks
alp
When travelling to other destinations, you'd normally be through checked to your final destination so you don't have to worry about luggage, you just connect to your next flight. However it's different when traveling to the US and security is stricter. I should imagine you'll have to collect your luggage then clear immigration before conncting to your onward flight. Hawaiian Airlines are a Virgin partner so it's not a problem. You'll normally be provided with all the information when you get your tickets.
