Hi Hun,
Direct Holidays and a few others have selected holidays....from Manchester Airport they only had to Crete, Tenerife and Malta....apparently most will be on the system by 25th June.
I only chose to look at Tenerife because we are a huge fan of Costa Teguise in Lanzarote and wanted an approx price for there next year...at those prices they can stick it!
I think I will book seperate flights hotel and transfer myself for next year...thing is if these prices are right, their greed will only come back and bite them in the arse because no one in their right mind would pay that for a holiday!
I'm still thinking about Denzel Washington.....................oh yes.
Hi, it's quite funny to read your post about this as I too had been looking on DH website for Tenerife next year (for 2 adults and 1 child) By mistake I typed in 2 adults and 2 children and got a quote for £12,000+ (At first thought it said £1200 and got a bit excited thinking it's going to be even cheaper for just 3 of us but nearly choked when I realised it was 12 thousand not 12 hundred) When I actually corrected my mistake and typed in for just 1 child, the quote was £2528, so there's some kind of mistake in their system (or the second child price is £10,000!!) Do you think DH might give us a free holiday if we bring this blip to their attention - about the same chance as flying on airforce one with Denzel I'd say!!
Just tried Direct Holidays website and it looks like they have removed their short haul 2010 as I put in Manchester - Tenerife and it's only showing until April 2010 and the same with Benidorm. Let's hope when they load them onto their system again the prices will be a bit more realistic otherwise it will be a tent for me too
Tried Direct Holidays, First Choice and Thomson last night for Aug 2010 from Gatwick, Bristol and Cardiff and none were available to price. One site (think it was Thomson) came up with a caption that said short haul 2010 available from July. No date in July however.
I think they would have been be either Alpha or Beta testing the system before the 2010 release goes live and you either shouldn't have been able to get in to it or if it was on the public domain they made the prices so high to make sure nobody booked.
Now i wonder, if i had booked it as i saw it wrong, saw it as £1200, would they take the full whack out or let me know its an error,,,,,,,wonder how many have done that,,,,,,,,?
just checked it again,,,, they have not got August 2010 on but it stops at April 2010,,,,, there are more selections for days of the holiday, , it was 7 or 14 last night, now its a full range of night,
methinks a massive glitch,
there is a glitch on the system, because DH on the phone got the same prices when I phoned for a quote and the "holiday advisor" nearly choked aswell! Also...if you go onto DH website and see a hotel for June/July/August 2010 and click "get quote" it tells you there's an error, so you're not able to book it online anyway!
Leanne I'm not surprised they nearly choked as well - that price is enough to give anyone a heart attack!
Had a very busy weekend and was at a family bbq last night....am a tad hungover and have to go to work in an hour and 40 mins .
Plus have just looked in bathroom mirror and my face is glowing like a belisha (sp) beacon.....obv caught the sun a little yesterday
I am waiting with baited breath for the correct prices but I have a feeling that they are going to be ridiculously expensive....maybe not on the side of 12k but I doubt we will get our annual Lanzarote trip for less than 4k....and I won't be paying that.
Thing is do we sit and wait in the hope they reduce prices after Xmas and run the risk they don't??
I would err on the side of caution and book seperate but am worried that with 2 kids something could go wrong.....
Does anyone have a date when they say these prices will be on and correct??
Just a couple of observations from last year to watch for .
On-line discounts seemed to increase after a week .
3rd adult in a room discount was not applied . 3 days after my booking it appeared and I managed to get them to adjust my booking after it was confirmed .
I managed to get a child price up to 14 that was pulled after a couple of weeks.
I booked during a glitch on the airtours site once and got away with it, however you need to be careful as I know someelse that did and they wrote saying sorry blah, blah, but it was an error and we want 'x' amount. I think if you are pretty certain its a glitch and really want the holiday keep some money in reserve just incase they realise. I dont trust them to honour glitch prices even when clients have booked in good faith.
First Choice/Thomson have put theirs on for 2010 today. Same holiday as we had last year which we paid £5030 for 9 of us is coming up as £11,000 for next year. Over double what it was last year.
