Spike,
I would book her in as a child (under 16), I think the only thing they need this info for is to ensure that no-one under the age of 16 travels unaccompanied. If you are really concerned about it you could possibly make two seperate bookings, one for the outbound flights and another for the inbound flights, I do that occasionally and it's never cost me anymore.

Right, hoping this will make plans for flying with twins clearer. Hubby and I will have 1 backpack each for hand luggage, he will put his things in bottom of his and I will put my things in the bottom of mine. We'll have 1 gymsack type bag for each twin, he will put one in the top of his backpack and I'll put the other in the top of mine. Surely that'd be allowed as hubby and I will only have 1 bag each in our hands and possibly a carrier bag of items purchased airside.
Hi cate ... as has been mentioned before, Ryanair allow just one piece of cabin baggage per passenger (excluding infants), weighing up to 10kgs, and with dimensions not exceeding 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. Any number of items or smaller pieces of hand luggage may be placed inside, providing that the one single piece does not exceed the maximum permitted weight and dimensions.
If you try and take on more than 1 piece of hand luggage per person you will more than likely be asked to merge it into one piece. I have seen this happen many many times at the boarding gate.
If this happens to you you will be moved away from the other pasengers at the boarding gate to do this (to let others board) and if you wanted to be one of the first on the plane you will miss this chance and if you take a while to merge your items you may possibly not be able to sit together on the plane.
The rules are very simple - one piece of hand luggage !
Regards, Chris
So things bought airside have to go in the one piece of hand luggae as well? Not heard of other airlines having that rule. Looks like we won't fly with Ryan Air if that's the case, carrier bag of items bought airside would be baby food or baby milk to save hassle at security.
That being the case that things bought airside have to be in single piece of hand luggage, we probably won't use them until the twins are 2 and have their own allowance which does raise another question. Would be expected at 2 to carry the piece of hand luggage for them or could hubby and I carry it if it's too heavy for them?
cate .. I don't think Ryanair would expect 2 year olds to carry their own luggage.
Easyjet also have the one piece of hand luggage rule.
Like many others who fly with Ryanair we buy bottles of water, newspapers, mags, sandwiches, fruit etc airside but always make sure they fit into our hand luggage. The trolley cases maybe a little more generously filled than when they went through security but we just make sure there is room to take these items.
I do appreciate that with 2 youngsters this may not be quite as simple as it is with most passengers.

Sorry cate, but this did make me laugh, I had visions of you and hubby sticking your togs in the bottom of your backpacks and the twins in the top
And nope, the airline will not expect the toddlers to carry their own bags, though of course that does not mean that the toddlers won't insist on carrying them themselves (as my 2 yr old grandson did LOL)
Cate - that's what we did when we travelled with our twins when they were 7 months - a baby each in a Baby Bjorn sling on the front, a backpack each on our back.
Hubby and I have backpack each for hand luggage as close to maximum dimensions allowed, thinking 50x35-40x15-20cms.
Both of us have the things we carry in hand luggage in bottom of our packs.
For the twins, we have a gymsack type bag for each which is put in top of our backpacks, also means that if we have to sit seperately due to oxygen masks, we won't have to pass things to each other.
To make getting through security easier, we'll buy food in departure lounge. Will ask questions about security in hand luggage thread.
If we have to sit seperately due to location of the infant oxygen masks, what is the furthest that we'd be apart?
I asked this question a while back for my 18 month old grandson....as Dazbo said....
All rows have an extra mask these days (assuming Ryanair didn't skimp on this!) so it shouldn't matter where you are seated.
So, in theory, you should be able to sit together if there are only the 2 (or 4) of you on 3 seats. I guess if you are both sat there with the children then most people will keep looking for another seat
Good luck
John

will these aircraft have the new leather seats or the old material seats
many thanks
Ryanair operate an all Boeing 737-800 fleet. You'll find more information on our What Aircraft? guide. Aircraft are rotated all the time, but most are the EI-DHx's with leather out of LPL.
Darren
so am i most likely to get a 737-800 with leather seats on both trips
As I mentioned above, it'll be a Boeing 737-800 as that's the only type they operate. Aircraft are rotated all the time so it's impossable to say which will be used on the day. I can only tell you what's used mainly, as above.
Darren
thanks for your fast replies
........... so I suggest if you want to have a laugh you go to the Ryanair website and see / listen to the new corporate song !!
You can find it in the news section - under 'free flight - would you stand' ?
Ensure your speakers are on - it's not rude and no swear words but it made me laugh !!!!
