Hamrag : that is the cruise I have booked on the 9th Nov with 4 other friends they are flying home but hubby and I are planning to stay for 10 days now looking at the price of hotels in Miami we are thinking if another cruise turned up as a walk on it would be cheaper say for 5 days but just seeing Carnival offers so far not sure if we would like that cruise line. :

So if you see any deals please post them we are in Miami from the 21st Nov

thanks :)

OK...firstly though I need to get something off my chest....am extremely jealous about your trip!!

Went into RCI website and there is a 4 night Bahamas cruise on Majesty of Seas 23 November £495 total for both of you including all taxes etc. and gratuities. There is also a 3 night option, same ship, leaving on 27th (didn't check price)...and you could do both, repeat places though. One thing for sure, will be a whole lot cheaper than hotel + car hire, food & entertainment etc. in Miami. When we did our transatlantic in March out of Fort Lauderdale the hotel prices were expensive and for meals you need to add 15% tip etc. If you stayed on Navigator of Seas, the next trip is a 5 night sailing but the inside guarantee is £850ish for both of you.

I also went into http://www.vacationstogo which is good for seeing what is available. If you use the orange find a bargain box, then go into the yellow custom search and put in departure date range say from 21st to 25th, with Miami or Fort Lauderdale as your departure port you will see all the cruises available. There are many. If you see one that takes your eye then use http://www.cruisecompete to get the best price available. If you like the look of the Majesty of Seas above, also http://www.cruisecompete it to see if there are better prices from USA agents.

Good luck, let me know if you have any joy with this.

Not sure you can do this in the US anymore.
best to check us prices before you go and have some local contacts/on-line to booj a few days before whatever is cheap.

Problem might be Thanksgiving when it that this year.

Back into search for a cruise mode,
Liked the look of that one so did a bit of research

Easyjet from Stanstead/Gatwick is under £60 with one bag pp
Cruise only direct with RCI £189 including taxes (senior rate £177)
So £250 then add on transfers and a hotel.
other dates available for this one in Aug and Sept.

EDIT:
Cruiseclubuk have a package at £359 for over 55 including grats(£25pp) with transfer and london flight(no hotel) probably the early Stansted flight.

RCI also have the 13 night Copenhagen to Athens £460 cruise only, inc tax
Flights are a bit more complicated might be possible under £100.

voyana.com have incredible QM2 prices for world sector cruise leaving 11th January from Southampton. Route is broken into sectors e.g. to Dubai (19 nights) to Singapore (30 nights) etc. and the pricing works out at £67pppn including flights. You can go for 60 nights to Australia.

RCI Voyager ex Barcelona has some good prices for Oct/Nov.

Sample inside Nov 15 is around £760 for 2 inc tips and tax.(cheapest date)

Flights £50-£100 depending on Easyjet or BA 7:00pm departure so no need for a hotel if you go LHR BA on the early flight(backup options).

The suite prices are also very good the 2 bedroom family suite is £3340 for 4 adults, sleeps upto 8

Splendour Of The Seas has similar prices out of Venice.

More good deals, on NCL Gem, for 7 nights from Barcelona on 1st November and 8th November using an American TA. With smartcruiser.com the dollar equivalent translates into £300ish each for an inside, tips will be a further £50ish each on board so you would need to budget £710 for 2 people, which is £50 less than Voyager but slightly earlier dates. For about £25 - £35 more per person the 25th October is available, although would imagine flights much more expensive for that date as I understand that is the English school holiday week.

Outside cabins are literally only a few pounds more, a further £160 each gives a balcony rather than inside, and another £100 each gives a mini-suite.

All good deals, including Voyager above. Incidentally, if you are over 55 and looking for a single it is only £55 more on Voyager at £436 including all tips and port charges/taxes etc. Single deals on the Gem are not at all good!

A TA should be able to knock a bit of the RCI deals they were direct.

Good single rate did not check that.

Worth a search on NCL med gem if you have 6 of you the GV was an OK price on one of the sailings, forget which one.

From the Daily Mail last Saturday, sounds almost too good to be true -USA Roundtrip No Flying from £1699 pp.

From Southampton 7 nts on QM2 to New York.
3 Nts in New York (room only);
overnight on Amtrak (meals included) to Miami,
3 nts hotel (room only) Miami Beach
13 nts RCI's Jewel of the Seas to Bermuda, Lisbon, Zeebrugge and Harwich.

Added on extra of coach transfer back to Southampton (if needed!)

This is with a company called Jetlinecruise. Has anyone heard of them?

Yes, this one has been around for a few weeks now....recall seeing it at £1499 initially. Never used Jetline, but they have certainly been around for a while and been marketing themselves on the teletext cruising pages. The reason you need to get off the Cunard ship is it sails down through Caribbean, Panama Canal and up to Los Angeles or San Fran....all of which you could do, but at a price!

Just realised, the one I saw was Queen Victoria, but you are saying it is the QM2 so a good deal at that.
Reply
The one part that got my attention was Amtrak, from New York to Miami which is shown as overnight- well, make that about 30 hours on the train ... I'll pass, thanks.. :D
Reply
Tend to forget the long distances involved in travelling from New York to Florida. It's not like here! Not doing the cruise but it would have been interesting to forgo the train bit and see how much an internal flight would cost. The total cost of the cruise isn't bad at all.
Reply
Flight from LGA to Fort Lauderdale (catch a shuttle over to Miami) are from $75 on Jet Blue outside of peak dates.

Boudicca 1 Oct for 4 nights
Newcastle, Amsterdam, Zeebrugge, Portsmouth

Single Inside from £199
It also states (and I hope I've copied word for word. Small print, diff to read)
COACH TRANSFER PLUS £53PP

This is with Gill's cruise
It was in todays Daily Mail.

I hope I've remembered everything and hope it helps someone.
