That's a shame, Sue. We went last year and it was wonderful. :que :(

I know GQB, it always has been, and I suppose that's why we were so disappointed last night :(

i'm really shocked by that, monmarte was always way up there for food and service, tho i've never used the one i pdc,we use the one in costa teguise, which is still wonderful with fab service and food, they also do a set menu for 15 euro with about four choices of starter or mains, as far as i know the two restaurants are run independantly, tho they are the same family,i can only assume one lot has decided to cut corneres! shame really as they end up doing untold damage to themselves!
try the costa one the next time?

We stayed in HV sun Tropical last year and ate a few time in L'Artista Restaurant near the end of the prominade. I must say the food was quiet excellant. Rustic Italian with some mad staff who made you quiet welcome everytime you paid a visit. they also love to have your photo on a wall of fame. Mad Argentinian waiter, loves his Puma's! Manager is a bike loving Italian who thinks Valentino Rossi is god! Watch out for their famous Garlic pizza bread they ask you would you like this when you arrive and you get the impression its free, but you will be charged €5. The Carbonnara, Lasagne, Bolagnaise, Chef special, Tricolori salad etc are cooked the correct classico way, bottles of minerals are small so a cold bear would be better valu, but not for the kids !! :cheers

Going to CT for 3 weeks over christmas and new year. Staying at Sands Beach with hubby. I went to sands last september with my daughter and grandson for a weeks break, but didnt venture too far from our hotel. We visited several restaurants around the small square and walked down to La Olas, which we really liked. On the friday eve we walked down to the market and realised that there were lots more restaurants and bars that end!As I am going for longer this time there will be no excuse for not exploring more. I have read all your reviews on eating places in CT, and there seems to be some very good places to go. What would be a good choice for either Christmas Day evening and New Years Eve? My husband has some walking difficulties,so does anybody know if taxis are easily available on these two nights?Thank you.

Had the most wonderful chinese meal I have ever had at Jumbos on the promenade in Play Blanca when we were there the other week. We had passed the place on the Saturday night and the waitress had invited us in, we said we weren't looking for a meal, and said maybe tomorrow. The next evening we went back and she welcomed us as if she remembered us (maybe not, but it was nice to feel like she had). The food was so yummy, just so filling, so we only got as far as main course with some prawn crackers. We shared a bottle of wine, had a couple of bottles of water, and my daughter had 2 cola lights. We all had a meat main (I highly recommend the fried chicken in chilli sauce, it was the best ever) with an egg fried rice and our bill came to about 47 euros. Not bad even at the terrible exchange that it was during that week when you were lookng at almost £1 = 1 euro! When we paid the bill, she brought over a hair clip for my daughter, a necklace for me and a shot glass with something in it for me and my husband. I never actually got to drink mine as i'd popped over to the promenade wall with my daughter as the smokers behind us were making her feel sick. But my husband tells me that he had his and at the bottom of the glass was quite a pornographic picture of a lady. Apparently my glass had a man. The necklace was a bit naff, looks like a real beatle set in a stone, and the hair clip was just small, but they still bothered to do that, so I would definitely recommend going to this restaurant.

Playa Blanca

Must,
Can't remember all of the name, second word is Arenna spelled with 2 n'. Turn right as you walk onto he prom form the taxi rank and it's about 100m up. Brilliant service and really good food.

Miss,
The Indian next door but one to the above. First time I've ever had a Madras that tasted like sea water.

La Casa Del Parmigiano in PDC seems to be a highly recommended Italian restaurant. I can't think where it is situated. Can anyone give me directions please.

Going back again in March, are there any new places to eat? :sun2

Desdamona,
Casa del Parmigano is at te Fariones end of the strip as you reach the old town, you can either go right to go up past the Biosfera or left to head towards Playa chica
If you know where the sports shop is on the corner, it's next to that

never eaten there myself, but it's the same menu etc as Anticca de Trattoria which is very good :)

Enjoy
Danny

Cheers for that Danny.
GQB you always seem to be on the Island the same time as us, March. I have just realised we will be there this year for St Paddy's day. It should be interesting.

We're returning at start of March to Playa Blanca. Were there last year & loved it. :tup
Can't remember names of restaurants but there were many good ones.
Does anyone have any recommendations for their favourites that we could try?

Our favourite restaurant in PB is Tipico Canaria on the front. It's near the half built hotel, next door to a Chinese. Great food at reasonable prices. It's always busy.

Yes, we also enjoyed Tipico Canario. We were not impressed with Jumbo Chinese next door, however!
We also liked the Indian on the front - think it's called 'Spices'.

Thanks I'll look out for it although might have had a tapas lunch ( very good!) there if it's up near the derelict building on the point as you go 2wards Marina Rubicon?

Here's a few thought on restaurants in PB:
Sebastyan Formerly Transylvania. Predominately Greek food of a high quality. We thought it was quite pricey because of smallish portions. We needed desserts here as still peckish after starter & main. Very attentive staff & good sea views but quite far from centre of PB.
Rocamar Great location & views. Our most expensive meal & not worth it. Bland salad starter followed by suckling pig & fish of the day: both good but accompaniment on the plate was very poor: 4 YES 4 Canarian potatoes & more bland salad. Again needed dessert to feel we'd had a reasonably sized meal.
L'Artista Quirky Italian on 2/3 floors. Food good but house wine disappointing: most expensive we had & from a barrel compared to bottles everywhere else. Lovely views from the veranda if you get there early enough.
Rubens If you're looking for somewhere cheap & cheerful I'd recommend this Columbian restaurant which serves Italian/ Tex-Mex & Columbian. Friendly waitress & pleasant ambience & excellent value!! 50yards up from main roundabout.

Hope this is helpful & can't remember the names of other places, but PB has great choice of eateries & can't wait to return!! :D

Highly recommended is Sideria Arena on the sea front , nice food , reasonable prices and consistantly friendly and professional waiters who make you feel appreciated.

Take note anyone reading this from the Casa Pedro, you need to 'up your game' , poor portions ,expensive, uninterested staff and sneaking un-ordered bread rolls onto the bill , if you need more info read the reviews on Trip Advisor these are very accurate.

Also nice but a little expensive is Spices Indian Restaurant.

If you want straight forward 'home cooking' at affordable prices then the lighthouse cafe is always worth a visit on Faro Park.
