What about boat trips?

It was smoking as normal in Icmeler yesterday , no sign of any ban yet

Call me a cynic, but wait until the local government authority equivalent in Turkey latch on to the fact that they can make a hell of a lot of money from your average tourist. That's when it will start to bite!

(I'm already converted to non smoker from social leper, Smiley)

can anyone comfirm who is in , icmeler,marmaris
that the smoking ban is in force in bars, restaurants, etc
some i speak to say they have heard it is
then some say no

Can anyone who has recently returned from Turkey offer some advice

Myself and wife, both smokers, are off to Hisaronu for a fortnight later in the month

We are fully aware that a smoking ban is in place as there is here, however, like here is smoking allowed outside resturants bars etc

Also, what about in the swimming pool areas of the hotels

We fully appreciate that smoking is now a big no no inside these places but wonder what other holiday makers experiences have been since the ban came into place

A smoking ban is in place but it's not as rigid as it is here. You may not be able to smoke in your hotel/apartment but you will be able to smoke on your balcony or terrace. You will be able to smoke by the pool and also at outdoor restaurants.Lots of Turks smoke so you will be fine. It's much more relaxed than here. Have a good holiday

We have just come back from marmaris and everywhere people were smoking,on the lazy day smoke blowing in my face, as we were eating our meal smoke blowing in my face,etc etc,i dont mind smokers but i think they should have a bit of consideration to others especially in the small area of a lazy day boat trip where you cant escape, my daughter even had an asthma attack when inhaling the smoke.

Interesting this, I was in the Garden restauraunt Icmeler old village 24/07/2009 and the smoking police arrived and gave the owner an official warning for permitting customers to smoke inside the premises, They also ordered him to get and put up no smoking signs, I have been back to these premises many times since then and still your allowed to smoke and no signs up eithier.

We got (at the bar we went to every night) told it wasn't allowed if a space has a roof and more than 1 wall He said it wasn't allowed in bus shelters either.
