Hi

, went to S'algar 4 years ago but stayed in the Las Palmeras apartments.
S'algar is a quiet manmade resort with an upmarket feel to it. It has 2 hotels and 3 sets of apartments all interspersed with private villas.
At the time my kids were 10 and 8, and they enjoyed it. We were there for the last 2 weeks in July, and there were quite a few children about. It isn't a resort for teenagers, and also I don't think you can walk to a beach. We had a car for the fortnight so this wasn't a problem for us, as we went to Binibeca Vell, Son Bou, Mahon and various other places, but we also spent a lot of time round the apartments pool. Think there is a Lido on the complex somewhere but didn't feel the need to use it. I would say if you are happy with the sunshine, a nice pool and a few restaurants you will be OK.
You can use the various different restaurants around the urbanisation. The one at Las Palmeras was good (great grilled prawns) and we ate there on at least 5 evenings. If you want any laid on entertainment you would need to walk up to the San Luis hotel of an evening, there may also be entertainment in the S'algar hotel but I think it attracts an older clientel. My son & OH played tennis a couple of times at the San Luis. Don't remember any Crazy Golf.
Hopefully someone will come on who has stayed at the Rafalet's but if they are like Las Palmeras they were good quality 3* (if they had air-con and a TV, they would have been 4*, but unfortunately only had a ceiling fan in the bedroom and nothing in the lounge!). There is a thread on S'Algar at the bottom of this page.
Good Luck. Doe.
