Hi,
has anyone stayed in the RAFALET apartments recently?
I would appreciate any info on this accomodation and also the area - s'algar.
If we decide to book we will be going in July/August. I believe this is a quiet resort , but how quiet!! will there be plenty to occupy my eight year old son, he's not into childrens clubs but loves crazy golf, exploring rock pools, trampolining etc.
We prefer low key nightlife but not deserted!
We've only ever been to the canary islands before so have no idea what to expect in menorca.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
S'algar is a quiet manmade resort with an upmarket feel to it. It has 2 hotels and 3 sets of apartments all interspersed with private villas.
At the time my kids were 10 and 8, and they enjoyed it. We were there for the last 2 weeks in July, and there were quite a few children about. It isn't a resort for teenagers, and also I don't think you can walk to a beach. We had a car for the fortnight so this wasn't a problem for us, as we went to Binibeca Vell, Son Bou, Mahon and various other places, but we also spent a lot of time round the apartments pool. Think there is a Lido on the complex somewhere but didn't feel the need to use it. I would say if you are happy with the sunshine, a nice pool and a few restaurants you will be OK.
You can use the various different restaurants around the urbanisation. The one at Las Palmeras was good (great grilled prawns) and we ate there on at least 5 evenings. If you want any laid on entertainment you would need to walk up to the San Luis hotel of an evening, there may also be entertainment in the S'algar hotel but I think it attracts an older clientel. My son & OH played tennis a couple of times at the San Luis. Don't remember any Crazy Golf.
Hopefully someone will come on who has stayed at the Rafalet's but if they are like Las Palmeras they were good quality 3* (if they had air-con and a TV, they would have been 4*, but unfortunately only had a ceiling fan in the bedroom and nothing in the lounge!). There is a thread on S'Algar at the bottom of this page.
Good Luck. Doe.
Hi.I stayed at the Rafalet twice last year and probably will go again this year.We have been going to S'algar about twenty five years now staying in the hotel various apartments and never contenplated using the Rafalet until last year when we could'nt get in the private apartment we always use now.We tried the Rafalet and loved themas they have two bedrooms both with ceilng fans and aircon in the lounge perfect in that heat.S'algar itself is very quite it always has been but even moreso at night now because the San Luis hotel went all inclusive a few years ago resulting in the guests staying put.If your child doesn't need much to amuse him yuo'll love it.But you deffinately need a car to see the beautiful island that we call our second home.Who are you booking with?
If we decide to go we will probably book through http://WWW.TRAVELREPUBLIC.COM.
Not sure if it's going to be a bit too quiet around and about though!
Sorry to bring up an old thread, but we are looking to book the Apartments Las Palmeras, on the S'Algar resort. We are going AI and was wondering if you could use the other hotels facilities and if you could eat and drink there AI?
Hotel san Luis is where you go for your evening entertainment and I think you may also be able to eat there.
If you have any queries you could e.mail them on salgarhotels@salgarhotels.com
Regards Maryb
